Rafale Tranche 4 has AESA but maybe it's still not operational yet.

RBE2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

60 Rafale of the Tranche 4 will be delivered and some have been delivered.
It seems that older rafales will be modernised to this standard.
Also i'll say the french air force.
By the excellent training of the pilots, the modern armaments, and planes.

is these Even a DEBATE?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!!?

The Lutwaffe was years ahead of America during the World Wars - as far as R&D and tech. advances go

Germany all the way

Are you kidding me?

The Luftwaffe of pre 1945 is a completely different story than todays one. The modern LW has limited capabilities and is totally dependent on other nations... The Germans cant even transport heavy equipment to Afghanistan without the help of Americans airlifters or the occasional Russian Antonov

While they have serious problems in keeping their aircraft flightworthy

And NO, the WW2 era Germans were NOT lightyears ahead of the Allied AFs.. thats a myth

Light years? No.

But their production lines were rolling out new innovations (they invented the first stealthy aircraft - the ho229). They established air superiority over much of western europe till air tactics changed and when british air force alllied with the americans

the topic here was air force, not coalition ....

looking to today I'd say the Germans still have an edge....their limitations are what you mentioned.

I guess the parameters we should set are training, close air dogfighting, BVR warfare, electronic warfare and then the logistical component

.
How's that. Typhoon and F-16 don't just carry 1 missile per plane. You'd need a numerical superiority of like 8:1 to win with F-16 against Typhoon.
LOL whut? Even 1-1 F-16 has very good chances against Typhoon.

The Horton was not meant to be a stealth fighter, it was later discovered that it indeed had some stealth capabilities.
And yes, the Germans were leading in some areas of aviation but the other nations were often close to them or at the same level. The Brits got Jet fighters before the war ended but never used them in active combat over the European mainland due the fact that the technology was not matured yet.

And the Germans definitely did NOT have air superiority in the early stages of the war! They NEVER managed to defeat the much smaller RAF during the battle of Britain... and thats why they eventually dropped their plans to invade the island.

Todays German pilots are way behind in flight hours compared to other military powers around the world, and that has serious effects when you compare them to other AFs... apart from the already mentioned issue that a huge bulk of their fleet does not even fly.

They do have state of the art technology though like the latest A2A missiles.... but again, their logistics often depend heavily on other nations. But thats no coincident, as cooperation with other NATO allies is integral part of German military doctrine.
