EU launches Asia strategy to rival China’s ‘new Silk Road’

The truth is that the Western colonizers have finally found a match. They are losing out and are paranoid.

LOL at debt trap accusations by a bunch of colonialists.

The can beg Asia all day long to be on their side. They might find a few fake allies who will milk them all day long. China is the real power.

China is more than a match. Without the historical shame that the Europeans and Japanese have. The west are masters of gaslighting and painting themselves as the good guys and talking shit about others.

I bet that nothing will come of this initiative of theirs or its scope so small its insignificant. Maybe they can offer their usual consultation services and achieve nothing in physical infrastructure.

It is a hogwash. The Europeans only have dreams. They will never materialize. The EU is getting its rear kicked from all ends. Trump, Brexit you name it. The EU cannot afford to piss off China. Besides, European clout in Asia is limited. Also, they do not have the manpower or other resources to pull of 10% of OBOR. Besides they are way too late. The Western world was initially sceptical about OBOR. They were spectating and expecting things to die out. Today they are licking their wounds after witnessing the spectacular results. China has already bagged the deals in nations where things matter most. EU is in sour grape mode.

what is your suggestion to stop"chinese aggressive drive to build infrastructure in other countries"?
Maybe China should stop all the investment to pakistan?Stop all the CPEC project?

funny logic!

CPEC will be a win win For both
most important part,we wish a rich and strong pakistan

I may have not been able to convey my idea clearly. Maybe it was the term 'aggressive' that made you think I was somehow against CPEC. when I used the term aggressive, I didn't use it in the negative sense. I simply meant that China was pursuing its goal seriously.

I too am hopeful that CPEC will prove to be a good thing for Pakistan and I am hopeful that OBOR will prove to be a good thing for the world.

Its amazing that the western media have spun Chinese infrastructure projects and expertise into the "debt trap" narrative.

They would prefer to keep poor countries poor and entrenched in the catch 22 of 'having no money to develop because they are not developed enough to make money'.

I would love to see their counterpart to the OBOR initiative. I wonder how much( or rather miniscule) their financial package will be? What can they offer apart from bullshit "consultation"? Fcukers can talk big and act all high and mighty when in reality they are the biggest parasite feeding off the third world since colonial times.

Name a single country that has benefited from China's OBOR projects. Sri lanka, Malaysia, Maldives, pakistan have complained about debt.

global trade has skyrocketed since Vasco da Gama, Columbus figured out the maritime routes
why would anyone switch back to land routes with all the issues ?

The BRI benefits all countries involved. Build a road or rail station and business and money will follow.

Countries complain about debt just like a home owner complain about mortgage payments. It would be great to have no debt but having a house is infinitely better.

What do you propose? Live on the streets and then not have the burden of debt? Just be thankful China provides the loan when no one else would.

Also, OBOR does not pertain entirely to land routes. Sea routes are also included connecting multiple continents.

Whether CPEC is successful or not depends largely on Pakistan.

building too many roads, building roads in desert have limited economic value

building a power station without having the fossil fuels is of limited utility

renting is better than having a house you cannot afford

you do not need China for sea routes. they already exist.

you have not named a single country that has benefited from this OBOR

Renting is an expense, a mortgage is capitalized and the house is an asset.

The sea routes is about increasing trade and interconnecting economies.

All countries sign up on their own volition. The debt trap narrative is western bullshit and sour grapes mentality. Only the west is arrogant enough to assume that the countries that sign up to join OBOR do not have agency of their own or the competence to negotiate with China.

Let me ask you a question. What does the west have (apart from talking shit) to offer if China doesn't pursue the OBOR? Any material initiatives outside of talking shit?

Why are so many countries so eager to sigh up to OBOR?

You only see the negative news because its all the west focus on. Talking shit.

I think Asia has learned its lesson now. Asia will never side with the west with the exception of Japan of course lol.

Tpp eu alternative or whatever is a debt trap

Renting at what cost ? I live in a high cost area where one bedrooms can be rented at $1500. If someone rents at $3000 it is a bad financial decision.

house is not an asset if you can borrow a loan that cannot be repaid.

there is a reason some countries are poor. they mismanage their economies

Nobody in the West is losing sleep over OBOR. A lot of key countries like Indonesia, India, Russia and Iran have not signed on to any Chinese loans or investments.

It is a smokescreen to sell overpriced Chinese goods and services.

why doesnt the EU help its own bankrupt countries like Greece?

Poor Greece has been used like a toilet paper by the EU

Not really, you recently forced Sri Lanka to sell their port to you because they accumulated debt which they can't pay off. In your analogy, never buy a mansion if you can't afford the mortgage payments. Take examples from any country, they have lost land or are buried in debt which they can't pay. Cambodia, Laos, African countries.
