For over two decades Turkey's been seeking EU membership, a goal that has recently lost much of its appeal thanks to the ongoing Euro crisis. Financial gloom has caused some Turks - long term EU residents - to head home in search of better jobs and opportunities.

I personally know hundreds of people who left Europe and are coming back . All say one thing . ''Europe Finished''. Especially if there wasnt financial help in europe it would be quite bad . That atleast is a little relief . Spain unemployment 25% , with 50% of these young people.

The situation with most turks is this anyway even before but now it speeded up . Even before when turkey wasnt so good economically when turkish people become around 45-50 they would have already invested in houses and things in Turkey and at like 50 they would return to Turkey with a great house and a good life .

Just look at this comparison , in europe pensions are increasing to like age 65 , but my relative his 48 and he started getting a pension. The thing that is different now is not only the old are going back as before but now even most young people.

I dont know why this government is still pursuing europe union , we can strengthen ties with turkic countries and other organisations. 70% of the people oppose it but still they are pursuing it.

.
its the biased thinking of European union that caused them most harm..
they included beggar countries such as Greece and Portugal but excluded economically strong country ...Turkey..
i bet the Turks arent regretting it no more[/QUOTE ]
Per capita income of Turkey is better than several EU members like Bulgaria, Romania & with the burden of PIIGS EU's future is bleak.

Man spain unemployment is 25% and its like 50% for young people not to mention Greece who cant find food , and other countries . Turkeys Minimum wage in 2012 was around 750$ ( that means the lowest anyone can get , any lower is illegal , when this was compared to EU members it surpassed many countries )

AFAIK no one is pursuing for EU membership, this is only a political tool to get rid of Kemalist remnants from Turkish institutions. If ever Turkey gets the membership then it will go to Norway’s root.

Now there are so many new help to people . Students even who start school get paid to parents to help them , as they grow older the more pay. Most people have something called a green card which means all health service is free .

The problem with turkey is the difference in wealth in regions , especially south east region cannot develop because of internal problems and is the poorest region while the cities in the west regions and south west are all very modern. Per capita in those regions is much higher than south east ,thats what drops the per capita income alot. When you go to Istanbul , or cities in those regions its clear how developed they are and its easily as good as any EU city .

So the exclusion of Turkey lead to the downfall? Is Spain a begger country as well?

They only sell tomatoes and tourism..

And that must be why they are twice the economic size of Turkey. You are confusing bad loans and fiscal mismanagement with productivity. The EU is full of economic powerhouses, and this current problem is not limited to the EU. The US, Japan also have economic woes currently.

Is your countrymen still unhappy of being a colony in the 21st century?

Where did you find your info from , on both they nominal and PPP they are not twice . We grow 8.5% last year , and spain shrink or grow like 0.5% , in a few years we would be bigger than them. In 2023 our aim is top 10 economy in the world and atleast around close to $30,000 GDP PER CAPITA

And you are confusing fake economic growth based on Bank loans and a Real economy based on Productivity...
Thats what is killing Euro zone...

It seems the gold and resources these countries looted from their colonies is reducing .
