The basic idea behind is that the virus gets a genetic marker and then attachs to cells with this DNA, delivers code, repairs or destroys.

Which sounds good also has a very dark side. This Virus can be programmed to specific haplo groups and attack specific ethnicities who carry such haplo groups. Infact the target can be destined as a single person. If this person DNA is known and a specific virus is set free...all who get it suffer a mild flu...but the target person perishes.

There was something strange in the last Ebola outbreak in western africa. It started from nothing. patient zero is known. A 2 year old boy. The virus spread quickly and the death toll was gigantic. Many tenthousands died and even more so but unknown died because the social life collapsed. Markets closed, farms stopped producing.

The strange thing is that all white and asian persons who got infected survived. Be it the spanish nurse, british and american nurses and doctors. All survived with mild effects. While the only black infected inside USA could not be safed. He suffered complete organic breakdown even with best medical treatment.

Beside that the virus showed strange behavior. The people who survived suddenly changed their eye color. Such things normally happen when a genetic modfied virus does its work and changes DNA inside the cells.

I dont want bring up what all this can be used for but its an interesting technology with countless possibilities.

The planet is overpopulated. Africa a ticking time bomb. The current chaos there and in muiddle east is a direct result of earhs overpopulation. Some world leaders could see this virus as holy grail to solve this problem. Be it for good or bad.

If used for medical purposes, this is helpful, but if used as a weapon, it would overshadow nukes in terms of psychological impact - a weapon that targets specific group by design is more terrifying than a weapon that simply and indiscriminately destroys everything.

pretty stupid comparission since Malaria is pretty much a no show with low death rate and the amount of death results from the bad medical conditions in most malaria areas.

But this must be seen at a broader picture. Many overpopulated areas on this planet are a demographic time bomb. The unlimited population growth creates more and more social unrest.

This kind of bioweapon could be seen by some circles are solution. The geentic option makes it safe for the producing part of humanity.

You suck not only in biology but also in statistics.

Ebola is a rather rare virus. When it strikes it is absolute killing tenthousands in its area. There is no real treatment.

Malaria on the other side is a big nothing. You take a pill and thats it. You dont die because malaria. You die because you dont have acess to even the cheapest meds.

Malaria is as dangerous as a cold for a european medical standard.

To give you an example. The inland taipan is the most deadly snake in the world. No other snake species has a more potent poison. Yet only 5 -10 people died in last 20 years from its bite? Why? Because the snake is rare and lives inr emote areas.

The common rattle snake is a 1000 times less deadly yet hundreds of people die each year because its bite. Why? Because its very common and lives in areas with bad medical conditions.

Malira cant be used as weapon because its harmless. You take a pill and thats it.

You see it from a humaniterian point of view. That so many people have to die from a very weak sickness that could easily be healed because their lack of medical treatment.

I dont judge about it. Its a weapon design. Many weapon designs are debated here including nuclear bombs. This weapon here is far more effective and less damaging for environment.

How do you want to cut numbers of humans down? We cant survive with 10 billion people and its evident something is going on.

I´m not into that nor is it in my power what something is used for. This topic is about a certain technology. Its totally without judgement. Such a virus cures genetic illness and kills cancer. And the very same trait can also be used for ethnic bioweapons. Apparantly russia sees it as threateneing enough that it banned the export of all genetic markers.
