Erdogan not welcome for "referendum campaign" in Austria and Germany

Austrian foreign minister Kurz said, that Erdogan is not welcome to visit Austria and make his campaign for his referendum there:

The German government did only say that Erdogan has not asked for a visit yet but politicians as well as media say Erdogan isn´t welcome in Germany as well

Its expected that Germany will not allow Erdogan to speak in cologne as well. The federal state of Nordrhein-Westfalen already asked the government to ban the event.

I think thats really interesting to watch.

Which masses? Both nations dont want turkish politics on their soil. Which is totally understandable. It also sends the signal, that he isnt welcome in Europe on a more subtile note.

he is talking about Turkish masses, the hardliners/conservatives/Islamists and anti-western/imperialists will use this as a way to keep re-electing him and make him more of a hero in the eyes of the Turkish masses.

I agree. That seems to be Erdogans way of thinking.

If you are the president of a country then you should know, that your own interior politics in no way should be carried into another nation.

The question will be if Erdogan asks official in Germany to do his campaign or notices the subtile way that this is not welcome.

Wow looks like Merkel did pull the trigger.

Erdogan pretty much overplayed this.

Today the turkish justice minister was not allowed to speak in Germany.

And the city of cologne did ban the turkish economic minister to speak in cologne next week.

Merkel faces election this year and is under enormous pressure. Speeches of turlish politicians are seen as provocation form large parts of the german population. Merkel allowed Yildirim to speak last week and the response in the german media as well as the german population was devastating. Th majority of comments basicly say that Merkel showed a pathetic display of weakness.

The public opinion shifts against Merkel and listed the last occassions where Turkey tried to humilate Germany.

Be it that foreign minister Steinmeier was greeted at airport from only a local governor and that the german car was not equipped with a german flag. A lower chair for Steinmeier and some sort of throne for Erdogan.

Also that chancellor Merkel was left waiting 20 minutes in Ankara and the row that german politicians were not allowed to visit German troops in Turkey were noted.

The german foreign office brushed such complaints off and just said "thats behavior that should be brushed off and ignored."

The german public didnt brush it off. Merkels competitor Martin Schulz blamed her for her pathetic display of weakness and gained much popularity by this.

In the last days Merkel tried to to avoid an escalation and various german politicians said turkish politicians are not welcome in Germany to rally for their campaign. She obviously hoped the message is understood in Ankara...

It was not...Erdogan did send his justive Minister today to speak in southern germany.

Merkel pulled the trigger. As he arrived he was noticed his speech is not allowed. And the city of cologne banned a similar event next week as well.

I kind of like that now they can't do propaganda for the "yes" vote.

However, in Turkey they are showing it like, Germany allows PKK and Gülenist terrorists to do whatever they want on their country. But they don't allow a single speech from Turkey's officials by saying, "Capacity of the Salon is not enough."

Where you in Gaggenau one time? I`m glad the city stop this ****, save me some time in traffic jam, which would surely happen. This location was so unfit for this event, that i must say, the organisers are morons. Why didn`t the go to Karlsruhe? Greater mess locations and halls, where are more fitting for such a purpose and not too distant from Gaggenau, moreover the turkish minister wanted to meet with his German counterpart in Karlsruhe, which this location would make much better for his termin plan.

But I'm really curious. Don`t you mind, that so many electors from outside, who will probably never live in Turkey, decide on your destiny? Of course, they will vote, how you like it, but I mean only the fundamental point, they don`t live there, but tell you how it goes?

If we go by that logic, i wouldn't want illiterate people to vote. All the voters should at least have an university degree, others shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Poor point, if illiterate or not isn`t the, because, every law concerns them, too. Therefore, they have the right to vote.

However, Turkish constitution says, every Turkish citizen have right to vote.
