Engineering fields in Pakistan.Help needed

If you're in Karachi then industrial electronics engineering has the best scope, do it in PCSIR's IIEE, or industrial and manufacturing engineering in NED or NUST (PNEC)

Other than that, you can do avionics, mechatronics engg from PAF-KIET , or electrical, electronics, computer or telecom engg from UIT etc

Hi,

Make up your mind now. Consider this:
1-You like working on abstract concepts? Then go for Electrical/Electronics/Computer Science etc
2-You like working around technical drawings, big machines? Then go for Chemical/Mechanical
3-If you want to work with buildings, static structures, then go with Civil Engineering.

There are only 4 Main Engineering fields, called the mother engineering fields, and all the rest are derived from them. They are:
1-Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Chemical.

So i suggest you pick one of the four above and then do your post grad in a specific field. There are not many career options in Aeronautics in Pakistan or in fact elsewhere in the world.

I know you are young, and must be like i love airplanes, i want to design them. Reality is, when you graduate and get a job, you'll realize you cannot even design a simple bolt on your own. You'll need to follow design rules, peer checks etc.

Hope that helps.

BTW, i am Electrical/Electronics Engineer.....and by the time i was in grade 6, i knew what i wanted to study. It's not always fun, but you have to deal with it.

Thats what i m worried about coz i love aeronautics but it does not provide good career opportunities

As I am a civil engineer will suggest you to take civil engineering...civil engineers have job opportunity in govt, private, defence, software every where.....even u can start u r own construction agency or work as a independent contractor.....second option go for mechanical engineering..

.
I m looking forward for doing engineering but i m a bit confused in choosing a specific engineering. My field of interest is aeronautical engg, avionics engg, etc.etc but i m a not sure which has more scope in pakistan. Also which university should i opt for????
If u know of any other field which has scope in pakistan, please do share. Thanks in advance

Dont know about the courses and its scopes in Pakistan. But Aeronautical is one of toughest subject in Engineering field.
Probably tougher than the Electronics and Communication and Electrical (My field). But an Aeronautical engineering having good academic back up would give you more handsome opportunities in abroad.Otherwise you should join PAF.

@war khan Well im in 3rd year of civil engineering and during internship i realized that in Pakistan scope of civil engineering and mehanical engineering is better than all other engineering fields.
First you have to tell whats your percentage in the intermmediate exams?
If you live in Karachi, IIIE , NUST , NED and SSUET are the main engineering universities.
In which only NUST offers aeronautical engineering.

.
Well aeronautical engg is a good branch.
Though one of my cousin who joined an Indian engg college for Aeronautical engg felt it was very theoretical so he joined University in US.

I can really not suggest any university in Pakistan as I don't know of any. :)
A lot of guys prefer Mechanical engg like @kurup @Indischer @Dem!god
Then we have chemical enggs like @al-Hasani
Civil engg like @Roybot
@SarthakGanguly -IT, @utraash i guess is into electrical engg.

Little correction mam. Electronics n comm...
You have info of everyone....omg n I suspect you may be a undercover agent of Women Cell of RAW...haha.. You yourself are an engineer .....
On a lighter note- Jinhone khud ka bhavishya duba Diya ho engineering karke voh dusro ka kya bhalla karenge(Dedicated to Engineering breeds) ....

I dont know of any.It will be good if u tag any

Brother chose any department of your interest(Plz refrain going by demands of market as it is usually decided in India), also a very serious advice, study upto Master degree or further preferably phd(From Europe n US) if you have patience n dedication for studies .... Nothing can be better than if you have phd in aeronautical from US ....

I have myself switched to corporate training and I'm hardly a typical engg now. I'm originally a civil engg though  I always feel I should've chosen architecture instead. :P

But hey I think a professional degree is always much better than any normal graduation. In the first year itself we get to learn so much about other branches from mechanical workshops to engineering drawing(graphics) and so many things. :-)

Wait.. did you call me a RAW agent?
Yesshh! Have no doubt :smokin:

What kind of training you provide at corporate level?
I felt its always better to enroll in Normal grad than engineering.... N my dream of phd. In quantum physics shattered by same engineering....

How about studying mechanical engineering? You can still do what aeronautics engineer can do, but at least you will have the option of changing fields later on. Maybe when you study, you'll discover automotive or robotics as fun too? With aeronautics you are restricting yourself too much, especially if you plan on staying and working in Pakistan.

why was your dream shattered? You could still do MSc in physics and then do a PhD. But your usefulness would be very very limited, unless you are one of those smart blokes who can use derivatives on the wall street to crash the economy.

It's a very good suggestion from dontello. .....you can opt any field after mechanical.....
