True. India is a secular country with rich culture ( Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, Hinduism, etc). Islamic rulers like Akbar and Tipu sultan did great and part of school curriculum. Unlike some country which claims 5000 year of history yet claim Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism were not part of it.

Yup, much of Northern India(including Pakistan) was ruled by Muslims. Later the south also, except Kerala. Most of the time it was parts of India, until the Mughals took almost all of India then collapsed soon after. Your ancestors might not be Muslims by the way. Only a blow to you, not us. Also these Mughal emperors themselves became part Indian rajputs as well..
