Despite the incentive plan the Maoists are still fighting. Police had to send reinforcements which meant a large outnumbered encounter, as usual for much of the overburdened paramilitary/under-equipped police.

Raipur: In yet another daring attack, the Naxals on Wednesday tried to ambush paramilitary forces in the dense jungles of Dantewada.

As per initial reports, 50-60 Naxals launched a surprise attack on a contingent of around 100 jawans who were out in Kirandul jungle on a combing operation.

The jawans fought back and there was an exchange of fire between the Maoists and the forces. Reinforcements are being rushed to the location, said to be around 13 kilometres from Kirandul town in the jungles between Gumiyapal and Kukram.

Now they are ambushing special teams ! This is not looking good. Their inner hardcore membership is starting to surface as their weaker comrades turn sides.

These maoists are motivated. Their weapons are nothing special, but they are more disciplined and their tactics are classic guerrilla war and police was not made for such encounters.

I am all for deploying gunships to ward off this menace...Give some WSI dhruv to the team and kill the dogs ..
