What's new

Employment in India grew by 34% in last 8 years; women's participation rose to 25% of the workforce

If you are looking at policies, I hardly see any change in previous and current regime..... Infact the new govt is continuing almost every policy of UPA.....I remember a statement from MMS, he said We could have presented this budget...... When it comes to corruption i agree Even in BJP there are people who are termed as corrupt, ex: gadkari...... But then it is very early to judge a new government..... May be another 2 years down the line we will be able to see the real performance...... Now it is honeymoon period, and they can blame previous govt for any short comings......

But i seriously hope this govt do well and work on improving the economy.....

Wrong again.
The four stupid policies that i mentioned were cleared by congress and they are the real problem.

Why do u think the investment decreased in the first place 2 years back??
Answer:Environmental clearences were rejected based on perception of tribals and other stupid grounds.

Posco was gonna set up a 8-10 billion$ steel plant in orissa, one of india's ost backward states.
They tried for 10 years before going back this year.Guess who was the hurdle??Tribals plus a govt that was not interested to take a bold step

Same has been the fate of numerous other investors,,,when ur govt gives more precedence to environment than economy then this is what happens.

On the top of this they have passed land bill which will **** up further.

Just as NDA benefits from the policies of UPA 2 and the current growth projections of up to 7% within the next 2 years. It simply shows that things were by far not as bad as people made them and in several fields India did really well in the last decade.

No Current growth projection is 5%. Manufacturing sector doing badly. Rupee is down at Rs 60 against USD. Current deficit is very high. Foriign exchange over 300 BN USD. not very good.

When Vajpayee left, it was 1 USD= Rs 44. GDP was 8.2%. Inflation was very low.

Its
not that simple ..............

The govt was so bad that it should have been thrown out in 2009 itself if not for stupid people falling for freebies.
The only difference between UPA and NDA is socialism of UPA.

Plus the fact that govt was practically being run by rahul and national advisory council which was virtually filled with socialists and environmentalists.
In that scenario what could u expect??

But as has been stated numerous times the real damage has been

1)NREGA
2)FOOD BILL
3)LAND ACQUISITION BILL
4)ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARENCES.

Corruption is overrated,,,,and in 2g scam there were actually benefits to consumers due to lower costs but of course it was a loss to government. But its way way exagerrated

Really do explain me how it is not that simple UPA 1 didn't launch any Reforms & Fucked up the Environmental Clearances thing,It is simple NDA crop was harvested by UPA 1 & UPA 1 Crop was harvested by UPA 2

I read it and i am countering u.
In my opinion corruption is not a big issue at all so all those people who voted for bjp for bringing down inflation and corruption are gonna be mighty disappointed.

Reason??
Bjp is a party with traders as its core support base,,,it will never ammend the APMC act which is the single biggest step to break down the back of middle men.So there goes lowering of prices or inflation into a toss.

As for corruption itself,,,,,all politicians are more or less same, don't have much hope here too.

The only real change that bjp can bring is
1)Not passing any more socialist acts
2)Pushing for reforms
Really & where did you got that Information,Inflation will be brought down otherwise BJP know they are Kaput & their are other ways of Bringing Inflation down Building More Cold storage,Upgrading Rail Infra so food does not rot while in transportation,Boosting Irrigation Infra & many others. There are other ways to bring down APMC act one of them is to amend it,just like what will be done to the new Land act

That's good, let me also introduce you to ground realities
When the Congressis passed the NREGA bill in 2005 in 1 year it created a massive Artificial Wage Inflation which has crippled many Business specially Small & Medium ones like my Families, what happened was people became lazy they got better wages in their villages for doing less work, which was digging holes & then filling them.I personally know 100s of Business in NCR,Haryana & Western UP which invested heavily in Automation becuz of shortage of labor in the area we used to employ 60 people, now for triple the output we only employ 31.In the NCR in Badarpur area the same road has been constructed 100s of times 2-3 weeks later it either cracks or washes away & due to the shitty roads in that area costs due to packaging increase 1-2Rs per Sqft. You want more examples just tell me

But as you said, that's the problem of the inflation, which is no doubt Indias biggest problem and not the economic slow down. Nobody said that everything is good, but that's the point, it's neither bad which is why we can't look at things in black or white terms only. The last 10 years by far were not bad for India, not even the last term, just as NDA will not bring only positive things. Infact the current prize rice that they purposley caused, is counterproductive too. That's why it's important to give credit where it is deserved and criticize when it's needed too, no matter if one support one party / government or not.

Yes UPA has increased the power production capacity, but i doubt we have come to a level of surplus yet....

Will check if I find the report once again and let you know.

True, I have said the same couple of times here in PDF, BJP as a party was always complaining, that MMS mute.... and Projected Modi as one of the most vocal leaders during their campaign, But once he has become a PM, he hardly get time to interact..... he also gone into kind of hibernation (when i say that I am comparing to his election campaign days), But I am sure he is going to be a stronger leader when compared......

And on the other side you see far more interviews and statements of MMS in the news now. if he starts to go on twitter now too, he might become a candidate again in 5 years. ;)
Modi surely has it easier within his party which will be a benefit, but when you look at the strong rethoric during the elections, especially towards Pakistan and defence related actions, we see exactly the opposite and so far I am kind of surprised that many BJP supporters ignor that.

Not really, this year up to 6% are projected, for nex and beyond up to 7%. Rupee price reduction is going down since early this year, NDA has the same aim on deficit reduction as UPA earlier. Foreign econimies coming back and FDI to India will grow again, the only remaining problem is the inflation and the high prize but so far I'm not sure if NDA can tackle it.

I was very sure he cannot be the same once he is in power..... I could get that sense in Arnab's interview, He was less rhetoric, and was kind of mellowed down by then....by then he was almost certain that he will make it..

inflation has started coming down. You should remember Vajpayee Era when the inflation was only 1%.

@nair

Found the report about energy:

Watch: Truth vs Hype - The Myth of Power Crisis - NDTV

(Minute 14:00...)
Does India have a severe shortage of power?

Gireesh Pradhan, chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission: "we have approximately 250.000 megawatt of capacity...
...our demand is around 135.000 megawatts. That's because if the intensive supply side push that was given over the past few years...which is almost the 5th largest in the world...on paper yes of course, we have enough power available.

After that they explain why the power will not be forwarded or why the distributors create powercuts. All in all a very interesting report.
