Embraer reports sharp rise in defence sales

Embraer Defense & Security reported on 30 April that its revenue for the first quarter (Q1) of the year increased 57% to USD394.3 million.

The wider group's Executive Jet business grew 52% for the quarter, sending overall revenue up 14% to USD1.24 billion.

In Defense & Security, the Brazilian company made progress on initiatives in Brazilian and international markets with a diverse range of activities, according to the release.

Key Defense & Security programme achievements included: start of Super Tucano aircraft assembly in Jacksonville, Florida, for the US Air Force Light Air Support (LAS); modernisation of the second aircraft within the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) A-1M programme; installation of the SAGITARIO air traffic control system (ATC); progress on FAB F-5 fighter jet modernisation; and continued development of the KC-390 transport and Integrated Border Monitoring System (SISFRON).
