Towards the end of this vid, Elon Musk speaks of the proper political system for the human settlement on Mars. The political system is Direct Democracy like how it was in the Libyan Jamahiriya until the 2011 war.

Jamahiriya Direct Democracy makes sense as it is a scientific political system which if combined with a communist, collectivist, open-source-friendly system will be wonderful - appropriate for the science-oriented early settlement on Mars.

Gaddafi ceased to be the executive leader in the late 1970's or early 80's, and then on called 'The guide of the revolution'.

The executive power was with the people who on quite a few occasions did not agree with Gaddafi's ideas. One such thing is described in this article posted by @TaiShang in 2015.

Well, politics-wise in USA, Elon Musk is neither entirely with the Republicans nor entirely with the Democrats.

He is playing safe to ensure that his company is not shut down by the government of the day, until he gets to Mars.

The new world will be an early settlement with about a few hundred people, though Elon Musk has said that his dream is to have one million on Mars but this will take one to three decades.

The new world will be weak militarily, though it can install defenses in Mars orbit.
