This endless fantasy about "cheap" labour is just that. FANTASY. In a world of innovation , sophisticated science and manufacturing techniques cheap labour is utterly useless.
If "cheap" labour granted vast benefits then countries like Pakistan India Somalia, Sierra Leon , Mali, Chad Turkmenistan etc etc etc etc would be rich countries.
They are not and will not be until they realise you have to nurture human capital through education and that involves extreme long term investment and planning.
Pakistan gave up on those from the day of its "independence" and went for military prowess at the expense of all else in support of a privileged class of rent earners

I notice in the Russian spacecraft's picture that surrounding each button is a metal frame. I suppose that is because a shaking spacecraft will make it difficult for the stick to press a button if there is no frame as the stick will move towards an unintended button.

They are "switch guards". It's to keep you from bumping into the control panel with your elbow and accidentally throwing a critical switch.
