Couple of years back i had a chance to appear in an interview for an academc job advertised in a public sector university in Muzzafarabad... First question they asked? Are you from state or non state? My eyebrows when raised, they asked again..."Are you from Pakistan or Azad Kashmir?"
A female candidate asked me while sitting a waiting room...."You look like a Punjabi, why are you trying to take our space here?" I gave her a fitting reply that the applications were called from all Pakistani/Kashmiri citizens but one thing got totally cleared up for me....that Kashmiris have their own biases and things are totally different in reality. Please remove that emotional attachment before labelling Kashmiris as Pakistanis...Because they wanna maintain their seperate identity. I am saying this based upon my personal experience.

Pakistan gets into hot seat and push their military. Their military tries something and waste more lives and resources- but become heros. Pak govt takes even more back seat to military. Then people blame military for being top authority.

Funny thing is, majority of AJK isn’t Kashmiri.
AJK is mostly Pahari.
Less then 5% of residents of AJK are Kashmiri.
So she probably was a Pahari her self who are closer to Punjabis linguistically and culturally then they are to Kashmiris yet claiming Kashmiris.
Kashmiris are those who speak Koshur and come from Kashmir valley. AJK is made up of Azad Jammu regions and Azad Kashmir regions. Majority is Azad Jammu regions while Kashmiris make up less then 5% of AJK’s population.
