P.orn racket stink in rape of two teens
Dwaipayan Ghosh,TNN | Mar 14, 2015, 12.34 AM IST

KOLKATA: A Chandni Chowk trader was arrested in the wee hours of Friday for allegedly raping two 16-year-old girls in a warehouse in Taltala.

The accused, 50-year-old Ashish Kumar Kedia, runs an electronic goods business in Chandni Chowk. Police suspect an organized gang that makes p.orn movies is involved with the incident.

But for the courage of the two young survivors, the gang would have gone on making such movies in Kolkata's underground. The two Class VIII students walked into Taltala police station at 1pm on Thursday and narrated their ordeal.

"We had no clues to start with. The girls said they do not remember where they were raped and could only vaguely describe the rapist. However, on seeing their bravery, we decided to press ahead and deployed all our sources. Based on specific inputs, we picked up Kedia by 2am and he had owned up to the twin rapes by 5am on Friday," said a police officer.

Spurred by the girls' spirit, Taltala police relentlessly raided several places on SN Banerjee Road, Chandni Chowk and Baguiati through Thursday night before nabbing Kedia. He has been charged with rape, molestation and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Several p.orn clips were seized from him, say sources. Police say Kedia led a double life. "He has two children, one of them studies BCom at a leading college and the younger one is in Class VIII. His family had no inkling of what he was up to in his godown on SN Banerjee Road. It seems he was abetted by at least two conduits. More arrests are likely. The fact that both rapes took place around noon in a residential area shows that he was very confident of never being caught," said an investigator. His contacts in Chandni Chowk are also being questioned.

The chain of events began on Thursday when the two girls walked into Taltala police station and demanded to meet the OC. Sources in Lalbazar HQ say the two girls dusted and cleaned offices on daily contract. Kedia, who lives in Keshtopur, got them to clean up his warehouse on the first floor of 46G, SN Banerjee Road.

One day, around mid-January, he suddenly entered the godown, shut the main door and allegedly forced one of the girls to watch some p.orn clips. She says he tried to sedate her, too. After some time, he allegedly raped her and then warned her against telling anyone.

Overcome by shame and fear, she initially kept quiet but later confided in her friend. She was shocked to know that her friend, too, had been raped. The two then decided to go to police.

The godown has been sealed and forensic experts will inspect it soon to collect evidence. "We will leave nothing unturned. We have taken the accused on police remand," said an officer.

Afghanistan??

Oh you are from the great UAE? Here, look at your country and its legal discrimination against women before you come poking your nose in India's business.

https://www.fidh.org/IMG/pdf/UAE_summaryreport_for_CEDAW.pdf/

Absence of legal prohibition of gender-based discrimination Article 25 of the UAE Constitution states that all individuals are equal before the law, without distinction between citizens of the Union with regard to race, nationality, religious belief, or social status. This article makes no mention of sex as a ground for discrimination. Furthermore, national laws and policies are void of any prohibition on gender-based discrimination.

Discrimination in marriage and family relations Prior to the adoption of the Personal Status Code in 2005, the areas of personal status and family were regulated by Sharia law. The new Personal Status Code contains numerous discriminatory provisions. For example, under Article 39 of the Personal Status Code, a woman's male guardian and her prospective husband are the parties to the marital contract (the validity of the contract is contingent upon the woman's approval and signature). Under Article 56, wives are required to obey their husbands, take care of the house and raise the children. Concerning divorce, women can only request a divorce from the courts under the “Khul” procedure, under Article 110 of the Personal Status Code. Under this procedure, she must renounce all her financial rights under the marriage contract, most notably, her dowry or mahr. Concerning custody of children, women are only considered to be the physical guardians. Women only have the right to custody up to age 13 for girls and age 10 for boys, after which time custody can be reassessed by the family courts. If a women chooses to remarry, she automatically forfeits her rights to custody of her children from her previous marriage. Polygamy is authorised.

Discrimination with regards to nationality and citizenship Emirati women must obtain a license in order to marry a foreign men. If an Emirati woman marries foreign man without prior authorisation from the Naturalization and Residence Directorate, she loses her citizenship. Furthermore even those women who do obtain authorisation cannot confer citizenship on foreign husbands, unless the couple has obtained permission from the Presidential Court prior to marriage. Emirati men are free to marry foreign women. In addition, under the Citizenship Law, Emirati men can transfer their nationality to their foreign wives by following various administrative procedures Moreover, only fathers can pass their nationality to their children. A child of an Emirati mother and a noncitizen father has no claim to UAE citizenship.

Discrimination with regards to inheritance Articles 321-328 of the Personal Status Code codify interpretations of Shari'a law governing the right to inheritance, according to which women can inherit one-third of assets while men inherit two thirds.

Violations of freedom of movement 4 Article 29 of the Constitution guarantees all UAE citizens, men and women, freedom of movement and residence within the limits of the law. However, women must have the authorisation of their male guardians to travel abroad. An Emirati man has the right to seize the passports of his wife and daughters and can even request that the Immigration authorities prohibit their departure out of the UAE. Fathers and husbands have the legal authority to forbid their wives and daughters from working outside the home. Under Article 71 of the Personal Status Code, women who leave their husbands can be ordered to return to the marital home. There have been several such recent court decisions. Foreign women fall outside the purview of Article 29 altogether. They find themselves particularly subject to exploitation by employers who often confiscate their passports and force them to live in involuntary servitude.

Violence against Women Lack of protection against domestic violence There is no accurate information or statistics regarding violence against women in Emirati households. Women are generally reluctant to report their experiences of violence and police tend to refuse to intervene and protect abused women, considering it to be a private domestic matter.

Lack of protection against rape Under criminal law, rape is a serious crime carrying the most severe penalties. However, in practice most victims do not report such crimes either through fear of being accused of adultery - a crime which can be punished by flogging and death by stoning -, or because it would bring shame on their families. Foreign women migrants also fear that they will be deported. Marital rape is not recognised as a criminal offence.

Female circumcision Female circumcision is not prohibited by law but the Ministry of Health has issued regulations prohibiting it in hospitals and clinics. However, it continues to be practised within Emirati families usually by female doctors or in pharmacies. In a study published in the mid 1990's, it was reported that 30.8% of girls between the ages of 1-5 had been circumcised1 .

Particular vulnerability of women migrant domestic workers Under the Labor Code, domestic workers are excluded from protection. They are therefore vulnerable to harsh exploitation and mistreatment. Female domestic workers receive low pay for long hours in conditions that are akin to slave labor. They are also often subjected to racist discrimination, physical and sexual abuse2 . They lack effective recourse mechanisms in cases of abuse and generally do not report violations due to fear of deportation and their relationship of dependence on their employers.

Human Trafficking Although human trafficking is prohibited under law3 , and the UAE has ratified the UN Convention on Organized Cross Border Crime, trafficking remains widespread in UAE. To date the government has made insufficient efforts to implement legislation. Women migrant domestic workers are particular victims.

Discrimination in political affairs The representation of women in political institutions remains very low. In 2004, the first woman was appointed as minister. As of end 2009, there were four women ministers and 2 female ambassadors.

Do not compare Pakistan with India. Indian women do not have to produce 4 male witnesses to report rape.

Six-year-old raped in Tehrathum

PANCHTHAR, MAR 14 - A six-year-old girl has been raped by her neigbour at Thoklung-2 in Tehrathum.

Police said the incident, which occurred 11 days ago, came to light after locals could not settle the case in the village. The victim was taken to hospital only a week later as her health deteriorated, victim’s mother told the Post over telephone.

She said a local health facility trasferred the victim to another hospital following a preliminary check-up. “The victim’s private organ has been torn and is swollen,” Dr Kijan Maharjan said, adding that the girl is suffering

from insuppressible urination, pain in vaginal canal and inability to move.

Police, meanwhile, said they arrested 18-year-old Prem Kumar Shrestha based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

Shrestha, who had suddenly disappeared from the village after the incident, was found hiding in his sister’s house on Thursday night. Police said they have also taken into custody Shrestha’s brother Yam Bahadur for helping the accused flee.

The minor was raped when she went to Shrestha’s room for charging a mobile phone, her mother said. Shrestha’s mother cannot speak and his father was not at home when he committed the crime, locals said.

The target has gradually shifted from Muslims to Christians in India. Now its their turn to have their churches razed and nuns raped.

I think it has to do with a mentality that sees people from other religions as fair game. This thinking makes young Hindutva's believe that Christian or for that matter muslim women are legitimate targets. The Orissa riots prove without doubt that the real target now is Chritianity. The idea that Christians convert Hindus is used as cover and justification of the violence against Christians.
And then gem appears with his usual rhetoric....
What make you think that this is religious hate crime? These crime does not happen out of religious hatreds .... Rapes are rapes no differentiation whether victims are Hindu, Muslim or from any other religions....
I see it a heinous crimes n demand the execution of all these 7-8 morons ....
We may have our religious differences among ourselves but that doesn't permit anyone to go on to commit atrocities over any other group....
N I would request you to see it from humane side rather than the discovering a religious twist here....
