does anybody have any idea if Eid is tomorrow or on friday?

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday indicated chances of sighting of moon of Shawwal 1431 Hijri, on the evening of September 10 in the country. According to astronomical analysis, there are few chances of moon sighting on September, 09 in the coastal areas of the country and the age of the moon is less so it is likely that Eid will be observed on Saturday after 30th Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, subject to confirmation by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

An official of PMD told APP that the essential astronomical parameter for sighting the new moon of Shawwal, 1431 Hijri is that minimum duration for the new moon after sunset should be more than 41 minutes whereas at this occasion, it is less than 39-40 minutes in coastal areas of the country.

However, it will be more than 60 minutes in central and southern parts of the country on Friday and its angles will become more favorable for sighting of the new moon. According to these conditions, September 10 (Friday), 30 Ramzan will be the Juma-tul-Wida and Eid will be celebrated on September 11 Insha’Allah.—APP

Saudia Arabia will have Eid on Friday. So it is quite likely that Pakistan will have Eid on 9/11. Americans won't be happy. Lol.

Because Eid is celebrated the next day of when the moon is sighted. In Saudia Arabia it's usually sighted a day before than Pakistan.

In Kuwait,eid is on friday.(by the way it was not so hot issue for a thread to be started)

my first day of fastng was on Wednesday, some people did fast a day before and some a day after. i am not sure which one was the correct one.

i started on wednesday too in canada i have to check with ISNA canada to find out when is the eid today is the 29th so its either tomorrow of friday

Matter of fact there is opinion among many that the calendar should be precomputed scientifically and one reference place on earth should be used. Check out the Misri calendar as it makes the lunar calendar uniform.
