Egypt 'seizes' megaship Ever Given which blocked the Suez Canal until the owners pay $900MILLION compensation

Well, considering the fact that the Europeans were rediscovering mathematical theorems that we had discovered several centuries ago before the 15th century, that's entirely possible. After all, they hadn't discovered the canal before Napoleon!

And I'm not the one that needs to prove my claim. You're the one that's denying a historical fact. So, the burden of proof is on you, not me.
The burden of proof is on you. What a nice twist from you. If darius has the tech and mean to plough thru a canal across the suez during his time.

He would achieved more than what genghis khan accomplished.

This is like me having a car confiscated for driving without insurance while sitting in back seat

It how it done I read it somewhere same as the Panama canal which I watched a documentary on. I could be wrong being an Indian scum i was not there but that how normally done.

You are mostly correct. The canal authorities provide canal pilots and there were two present on the Ever Given when the incident occurred. However, the ship still remains under the final authority and responsibility of the Ship's Master. The canal pilots aren't considered experienced enough with the ship to take final control. Also the reason why damages are being sought from the ship's owners.

“Masters are held solely responsible for all damage or accidents of whatever kind resulting from the navigation or handling of their vessels directly or indirectly by day or night,” as per the Suez Canal Authority documents.

Accidents happen every day all over the world. Best we wait for the investigation to finish before pinning the blame.

Passage through canal taken over by Egyptian crew who pilot it

Wow, that is true. So it should be the Egyptian Suez SA asking for money from Egyptian Suez SA? Shouldn't it also be the freighter company suing Suez SA for damages?

probably all staged in an effort to get ships into the north or to build the Israeli canal.

Oops Krash has an explanation.

What do these piolets do what is their part after boarding i thought they steered it until passage complete. The wording is not clear seems like they clear themselves from fault in any incident

Seems like the authority clear themselves of fault how would they get insurance through canal

In ships of this size the pilots are not captains and the captains don't pilot the ships. The pilot is just the one steering the ship as per the commands of the captain. The 'canal pilots' are there just to advise and help the captain through the canal with their experience. They don't take over the ship, they can't. The captain still calls the shots.

Thanks mate a little confused but kind of get it

Still it doesn't prove of your claim that the canal is totally passable before the french and british.

Maybe you think the european merchant fleet are foolish enough to round the cape town wasting time and money to trade from europe to asia during all the time before official of suez canal passage?
European vessels used the canal for trade with India for thousands of years. That was stopped after Ottomans invaded Byzantine and Egypt and cut off the canal. That is also why Europeans suddenly started Voyage of discovery. If Europeans used to travel across Africa all the time, they would not have suddenly started sending expeditions to discover India.

These pilots are imposed by Egyptian law on any major vessel passing through Suez and are given an entire cabin in the ship for themselves. These pilots are supposed to guide the ships and help them steer the narrow canal safely. But Egyptian law states that any damages or problems happening is the responsibility of the shipowner. So, the Suez pilots are just agents of Egypt who are given a cabin and provide advisory services to the captain and also ensure that the ships don't do anything that harms Egyptian interests. The ship is still steered by the captain as each ship have their own steering parameters that vary according to engine type, size, design, manufacturer etc and hence has to be steered by someone who is experienced on that ship.

International Arbitration way is open. The shipowner company will probably not go to an agreement until it has completely exhausted its legal remedies. During this time, Egypt cannot block other ships of the company.

BS

All academic sources show that the ancient canal was used until the time of Amr bin As, and it became unusable after the 10th century. In the 16th century, the Portuguese crossed the Indian Ocean, took control of the Spice Road and began threatening the Ottoman lands in the east. In the face of this danger, Grand Vizier Sokullu Mehmet Pasha and Captain-ı Derya Kılıç Ali Pasha attempted to open a channel that would connect the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. However, these attempts failed for various reasons.

Egypt Could keep the ship and it's crew for unlimited of time. Egyptian legal system is know for taking it's time. Sometimes I have seen folks in jail for 4 years before getting a trial. They will slow down the process

Nonsense, it didn't reach the mediterranean

The canal Darius built did the same work of todays suez canal but the path was a little different it connected Nile river to the Red sea

Dont understimate the ancient . just lokk at pyramids and it show you what you can achieve with determination.

I wonder that the ship was travelling at the speed of twice what was allowed . why these advisers didnt do anything about it.

So at the end of the day the canal pilots can not take control of the ship so...its still the Indians crews fault. Why am i not surprised with this?
