An Egyptian Russian agreement to launch a military satellite
The Russian institute RKK Energia which specialises in the production of satellites and space faring rockets revealed on Saturday that a new Egyptian satellite will be launched. The satellites technical details were agreed upon after joint discussions during the Egyptian Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi's to Moscow. Energia had already launched the EgyptSat-2 earlier last year (16th April) from Kazakhstan.
In a statement to the Sputnik news agency, Russian Space Agency consultant Dr Hussien Alshifay said that Egypt and Russia were cooperating in the space sector around a project named "E-Star". The project includes the foundation of various space systems and remote sensing satellites.
The consultant added that the finer techinical details of the satalite are currently being hashed out and that the eventual satalite will be coproduced between the Egyptian and Russian sides.
He also revealed that the final contract for the satalite is expected to be signed during the Egyptian Presidents visit to Moscow during the May Day celebrations.
The consultant also said that the Egyptian military brass had explained to Russia its need for an advanced satalite equipped with a radar in order to locate terrorist tunnels and hideouts that EgyptSat-2 currently can't, although it can and is being used to target terrorist locations in the Sinai*.
عقد لاطلاق قمر صناعي عسكري بين روسيا ومصر
*Satellite imagery has also been used for border security and strikes against IS in Libya.

The article goes on to quote a Russian military expert who predicts Egypt will allow Russia overflight and naval expedition in return for advanced anti air missile systemes, specifically the S-400. The same logistical aid is afforded to the US.
