Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says he is more worried about the developments along Israel's southern border and believes Egypt presents more of a security danger than Iran.
Lieberman recently held a closed-door discussion with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Hebrew language newspaper Maariv.
We have to be prepared for all possibilities, Lieberman warned.
The Egyptian issue is much more disturbing than the Iranian issue, Lieberman said during closed discussions.
According to the Hebrew daily, Lieberman asserted that Egypt may violate its longstanding peace agreement with Israel and post more troops to the Sinai Peninsula without permission.
Egypt is the largest Arab nation that has a common border with Israel, and also has a peace treaty with it since 1979.
But experts have warned about possible unrest in the region given serious economic conditions in Egypt, and the failure of the revolution that ousted former dictator Hosni Mubarak.
They believe that the danger from Egypt is liable to escalate and to affect Israel.
