The agreement was signed by the Chinese side, Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Sung Ay were accompanied by a Chinese delegation comprising a number of major operating in the space agency experts Chinese companies, and the Egyptian side d. Medhat Mukhtar, head of the National Authority for Remote Sensing, in the presence of d. Sharif Hamad, Minister of Scientific Research.
D.ala religion river Vice Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing say about science and space after it was agreed to launch a satellite for the purposes of research and development projects and the proportion of Egypt's participation in the design and implementation phases of 60 to 70%. And technical specifications of the satellite, weighing half a ton, cost $ 50 million, and its orbit of 700 kilometers, and is used in the field of sustainable development. It is scheduled to launch the moon in 2017. The new satellite is higher accuracy and better efficiency of the moon Egypt SAT 1. He explained that the two sides had agreed to receive the Egyptian stations Chinese satellite images, as well as participating in the development of receiving stations and treatment in Egypt and also the space load factor and the coefficient of determination and testing and assembly of the Egyptian space program, and training Egyptian cadres in China on remote sensing applications in the field of mineral wealth, and in the agricultural field, especially the production of crops, forecasting productivity, and resistance to pests, and to identify the lack of nutrition in plants, as well as training Egyptian cadres in China to identify on land resources by determining the quality of the soil, and its production capacity and suitability for the production of specific crops, and to identify water resources through the analysis of satellite images of the moons to see aquifers, for use in promising areas such as East Port, Sinai and Halayib and Shalateen, find out the amount of water in the reservoirs, as well as identified through Alrdaria images faults on the floor, which is the source of groundwater storage.
He stressed that the agreement included the use of satellite images of four Chinese satellites with differential ability and high resolution can be used in many development and national security projects, such as the Suez Canal project, and also will use these satellites in the security projects, including the Egyptian border control, pointing out that the agreement will begin work by the beginning of January 2015. He explained that the President Abdel Fattah Sisi interested in this cooperation, which is a top priority and that its vital role in the development and support of the Egyptian economy within the framework of his upcoming visit to China. He also noted that Egypt is trying to achieve the proper position in the field of space technology and satellite industry and design, also seeks to lead in this area, which particularly at the regional and African levels.
