Get Haaretz on iPhone Get Haaretz on Android Egypt's national gas company EGAS announced Sunday that it will be cancelling its natural gas supply deal with Israel.

Egypt on Sunday notified EMG, the exporter that supplied Israel with natural gas, that the deal will be canceled.

A deal was reached in 2005 between the Israeli and Egyptian governments as part of a political agreement according to which Cairo undertook to allocate 7 billion cubic meters (BCM) of Egyptian gas to the Israeli market for 20 years, with an option to double the supply.

Sources close to EMG said in response, "Egypt does not understand what it is doing. This move will bring back the country - politically and economically – by 30 years. This is a breach of the peace agreement with Israel."
Egyptian militants have blown up the pipeline that was carrying gas to Israel at least 14 times since the popular uprising that ousted longtime Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak.

Just for the sake or argument, why would Egypt give Israel gas discounted ? I am sure Egypt gets or used to get something bac in return. I know we all hate Mubarak, his regime, ect. But the guy was not a traitor or an Israeli agent. I am sure Egypt got something back in return.

Even the Ynet news is saying that Qatar thing is most likely fake initiated by the dictatorship regimes in revenge for Qatar's strongest weapon "Al-Jazeera" used against them. And quite frankly even here People don't like Qatar than much if not at all because they housed the US troops after we refused to let USA use our territory on Iraq.

First the israeli ambassador in Egypt leaves for good. 2) Egypt increases its forces in Sinai and is currently having its biggest military maneuvers in years in Sinai. 3) Israel asked all its tourists in Sinai to return home. Something doesn't sound normal to me.

I hope no war happens now. We are not ready yet. In the next 10 years we will be able to take on the world but now we should focus on building our countries.
And Israel has no hope of winning the war without resorting to Nuclear weapons. We are not the same as we were 30 years ago or even 10 years ago. Israel knows that its chances of winning any war with Arabs is close to none that is why they resorted to nuclear weapons which is their only edge in the fight.
