What's new

Ecuador grants asylum to Assange

IndoCarib, Turkey was never colonized by any country, we are not India. Read some history.

So some one charged with rape gets to become a political refugee just because they once pissed off the US and everyone cheers for the prik

One innocent western life is nowhere near as tragic as hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi and Afghan lives.

.
He'll have to come out eventually, just arrest him then.

Not gonna happen mate..
If Equador provide Assange a Diplomat status (equadorian diplomat) he will get immunity and the guards cant arrest him , he will then board an aeroplane and go live in Equador..
I remember a case in Ireland , A son of a diplomat ,from other country, sexually assaulted a girl and tried to rape her , guards caught him.. brought to Police station , it was discovered he was ambassadors son they let him go , due to stupid immunity his dad enjoyed.
ridiculous , i know.

Britain can deport him to Equador but NOT arrest him... but U never know how it will play out.. may be they will invest a bit in Equador and in return..... i dont know!!

There is something about this Assange dude is just not right. Either he is playing the people or he is being used. There is nothing new or sensitive Information about the cables he released, not an iota.

Yet the hoopla about him.

It is actually very possible, Raymond Davis became a diplomat overnight.

The general levels are:

- Confidential
- Secret
- Top Secret

Everything wikileaks revealed so far have been in the 'Confidential' category, meaning the contents are known among parties involved and would preferred to be kept within that circle and disseminate methodically. The 'Secret' and 'Top Secret' stuff are felonious information, meaning the governments can (but not necessarily will) imprison unauthorized disclosure. Diplomats and assorted holders of these information places a high value on their freedom. Some bits straddles the fence between 'Confidential' and 'Secret' but nothing spectacular.

What concerns all governments is how did wikileaks came to these information. People erroneously think that just because the US, Britain and other high profile Western powers are vocal about wikileaks, no one else does. It is a foolish and delusional belief. How wikileaks came to these information threatens the security of every country that have diplomatic relations with each other, hostile or not. In fact, the more hostile the relationship, the more important that communications and facts remains tightly controlled, if at least to preserve the current peace. People can bet their next year's salary that all governments have been reviewing security protocols, reassessing people involves in the maintenance and security of information (INFOSEC), revising COMSEC and OPSEC, and quietly meted out punishment fairly or unfairly.

Assange is a misguided individual, more concerned with his own ego than with practical realities of life.

The more suited term here IMO is TCSEC short for Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria.

TCSEC is a United States Government Department of Defense (DoD) standard that sets basic requirements for assessing the effectiveness of computer security controls built into a computer system. The TCSEC was used to evaluate, classify and select computer systems being considered for the processing, storage and retrieval of sensitive or classified information.

Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DoD commisioned Orange Book was part my course ( Network Security Basic ) study in My Master's degree. I know the name is changed now., but essentially it is still the same deal.

The TCSEC is very detailed when it comes to access control. One just can't insert a CD or flash drive to copy from the system. Even if you copy the data using your clearence, the data is probably encrypted, you may not have the clearence to read the data.

Its just mind boggling how a low level guy like Bradly Manning was given a Top Secret Cearence with his volatile past. On top of that he had access to these files which were apparently unencrypted, just doesn't make sense, as if it was there for him to take.

Anybody with little knowledge of info sec will tell you the biggest threat is always from the inside in the form of a mole or disgruntled employee.

It is less -- far less -- about computers than it is about information. People uses computers and its peripherals to do their jobs, COMSEC, OPSEC and INFOSEC are about the who, the where and the when it is appropriate to talk, to take note, to archive and to transport information. Computers are just tools that can enhance or degrade those security protocols. Assange and wikileaks are about the public exposure of careless and deliberate disclosure of information regardless of levels of confidentiality. It does not matter if that carelessness involved a flash drive or a CD or even a casual conversation.

Actually, it is not. Low ranking does not mean he is not allowed to have 'Top Secret' clearance. I had 'Top Secret' clearance in my first year in the USAF. His and my jobs required it and we were given such clearance. That does not mean Manning could walk into a missileer's office and peruse manuals on ICBM or that I could listen in on my commander's briefings. The clearance is necessary but restricted to only information necessary to do your job. If Manning's job entails reading and writing reports on whatever he sees across his desk, he will be allowed to see all sorts of information that can do serious damages to national security interests if he wanted to. And he did. Any tools from CD to flash drives will automatically be assumed to be 'safed' and 'cleared' for those security protocols.

How will Julian Assange get to Ecuador?

I am really rooting for him to give the British Authorities the slip and somehow get to Ecuador.

.
Turkey is the only country which fought against the superpower of the time and won.

Nobody refutes that Turkey earned its freedom through righteous war.

It is just that funny little individual who's making it sound as if he was the Ottoman shah and led the war himself.

Thats how Mustafa Kemal became Ataturk.Turkish war of independence was a great victory for the people of Turkey

Certainly. I myself admire Ataturk's love for his country, which is so contrary to the pathetic Gandhi-Nehru dynasty and their weakling worshippers.

and a great inspiration the muslim of subcontinent.

You dont have any sense of history.

Let's leave your identity crisis out of this for this thread, shall we?

We are talking about Assange's asylum in Ecuador.

Not Communists taunting us while a gun is cocked at their heads or hypocrites living off western benefits in western countries and then cursing their bread-providers.

.
Says he'll give a statement at 2,in front of the embassy. Do they own the land in front? Like a small front garden? Surely he'll be arrested before he can make his statement?
