ECP ordered to allot PML-N symbol to Rashida Yaqoob

LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court Tuesday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allot PML-N election symbol to Rashida Yaqoob, candidate for PP-78 and wife of Sheikh Yaqoob who was disqualified by the LHC.
The full bench headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan passed the directions while disposing of a petition filed by Rashida Yaqoob for the purpose.
Earlier, the petitioners counsel submitted that the petitioner was covering candidate for her husband Sheikh Yaqoob who was disqualified by the LHC to contest elections from PP-78.
He submitted that after disqualification of her husband, the petitioner approached the ECP for allotment of PML-N symbol but to no avail.
He pleaded the court to direct the ECP for allotment of symbol. The bench after hearing the arguments ordered the ECP to allot PML-N symbol to the petitioner.
