Dubai plans world's first Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) museum
Tuesday, March 11, 2008

DUBAI: The booming Muslim Gulf emirate of Dubai announced Tuesday it will build the world's first museum dedicated to the life of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed al-Maktoum, has authorised construction of the museum to examine the legacy and message of Islam's founder, state media reported.
"The project aims to shed light on the life and legacy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the divine message he lived for, thus introducing the message of eternal love and peace Islam gave the entire mankind," the official WAM news agency said.

The museum will also inform visitors on the history and practices of Islam, including the Hajj pilgrimage.

Thats fantastic news. Great to see them taking interest in providing education.

By the way when I last visited Badshahi Masjid in Pakistan there were items in a museum section attributed to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

What is the legitimacy of those artefacts?

I like it how a small state like Dubai is being so progressive in all spheres. It will be good to locate such a musuem there given the tourist influx. Would prefer visiting an Islamic musuem in Dubai then in Iran or the Saudi.
