What's new

DRIVEN BY INDIA INTO CHINA’S ARMS, IS NEPAL THE NEW SRI LANKA?

Lol.. For what ? For not being slaves and been transplanted all over the world ? I doubt any Lankan would have wanted to leave their country.. Atleast NOT at that time, They were pretty comfortable and comparatively well off

Lol Your flags confirm whether Srilankans would have been inclined or not.

Unless you lack comprehension i mentioned NOT at that time atleast, Unfortunately migrations enmass of Lankans happened post Independence ironically, Unlike those counterparts in the Indian sub continent Lankans migrated on their own will most of the time especially prior to the civil war, NOT as slave labor

There were No "Slave Labor" from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh. British provided the Jobs and people happily moved. For the rich who could afford, British provided opportunity to go and study in reputed universities in London.

Most of the Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi leaders were all educated in England. Only dumb SriLankans think that people were taken out of British India by force. Huh!

Lol.. I didnt mention Pakistan did i ? Almost all these people were from South And Western states of current day India

Go learn some history, The Brits shipped millions of indentured laborers (Coolies) from British India to their colonies to work in Coffee and tea plantations in Sri Lanka and East Africa, Sugar plantations in Fiji and the Caribbean, And Rubber in the Malay peninsular and to work in the mines in Southern Africa.. To date some of the poorest populations are these Indian communities in these countries mainly in Malaysia and Sri Lanka

The Indian indenture system was a system of indenture, a form of debt bondage, by which 3.5 million Indians were transported to various colonies of European powers to provide labour for the (mainly sugar) plantations. It started from the end of slavery in 1833 and continued until 1920. This resulted in the development of large Indian diaspora, which spread from the Indian Ocean (i.e. Réunion and Mauritius) to Pacific Ocean (i.e. Fiji), as well as the growth of Indo-Caribbean and Indo-African population.

Oh man. This is hilarious. People were not forced and people took up the jobs on their free will. By that logic, even the current day Immigration could be termed as slave labor. Coolie is not a derogatory term but generally used for low paying jobs. Even Software jobs on H1 to US are being called as coolies. Go figure!

IT experts or cyber-coolies?

Lol.. Either you have comprehension issues or you're dyslexic, Where in the word bonded labor do you see free will being allowed ? You see this is the issue most Indians on these pages have their heads so up their own arses with nationalistic propaganda that they dont even know the factual history other than mythological tales'or Bollywood

Actually even today India has the largest population of slaves in the world, Most bonded labor just like those who were under the Brits.. 18 Million !!! Officially

https://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2016/06/02/india-has-the-most-people-living-in-modern-slavery/

https://qz.com/695565/india-has-18-...mes-more-than-any-other-country-in-the-world/

Anyway i see no point trying to make sense to someone who most likely is too jingoistic or immature for such complex subject matter

Back to the point.. 3.5 million Indians were shipped as slave labor by the Brits to almost all of their colonies and today, These communities of Indian origin that have grown in massive numbers over the years have become a major tool for current day Indian govt to promote hard and soft power around the world

Giving a collateral to taken a loan does not mean Bank is forcing you to take a loan.

I never thought SriLankans are so dumb. No wonder British didn't hire them.

That's very nice for 2016. But with a new government and with a new agenda will it be the same in the future?

"new govt" and "new agenda"....lulz

Want me to tell you what % of Nepali politicians and bureaucrats study/train/mentor/take cues from inside India?

Actually maybe you should try guess at it.

The big hint is that this is kabuki dramabaaz (read that whole thread I posted)....Oli has been "pro-India" and "anti-India" before in alternating fashion depending on a whole bunch of factors. The latter is in vogue now politically somewhat more than before to seem to have higher optical spine compared to Nepali congress (who always stay moderate/status quo)....because how else does he differentiate from them?

But the issue here is that money+culture speaks much higher volumes...the Nepali people know that very well...you can see for yourself in both the comtrade figures (where the trend btw is not just "2016"....but 2014 - 2016 well after the current supposed issues formented after the end of the Nepali civil war) and much larger economic exchange flows...not many people have finger to the wind on the level of cultural flow anyway.

Lol, Lankans fought for their sovereignty, Indians struggled to feed themselves, They had no concept of a nation before the Brits created one for them, And were willing indentured labor for the empire.. So yeah they were obedient slaves to the crown, Just like they have been under myriad of Mahajara's for thousands of years, It's a feudal mentality that most suffer to this day it seems

But besides the point my argument is this diaspora created by the Brits have been used to advantage by successive Indian govts, In this context the Mahdeshi's in Nepal

Perfect. The only thing I can add is that Indian slave mentality didn’t go away with independence. It’s going on strong today. India continue to beg the west for things, such as UNSC seats. Sad and pathetic.
