Dream of Lao People Coming True as Bullet Train For China-Laos Railway Arrives in Vientiane, CONGRATULATIONS ! First Bullet Train in South East Asia !

What about big mouth Vietnam nationalists who are always portraying Vietnam as on the cusp of all successes?
Laos population is very few, hardly anyone will use it less can afford it. Laos has no industry, no manufacturing, no tourism, no nothing, main export is selling electricity to Vietnam. I doubt the revenue is enough to pay the debt to China.

Here is not from Indian,
How Much Should We Worry About Laos’ Debt?
Laos has several options for dealing with its debt crisis, and none of them are palatable.

Thats a Western propaganda source.

You are ignoring the fact this train is start from Singapore all the way to Kuming. Laos will benefit heavily from the massive inflow of tourist and not to mention goods transport by this train.

To be fair, this China - Laos railway cannot yet be categorized as HSR or "Bullet train" as its operating speed is only 160 km/h.. by international standards HSR are trains with operating speeds of 200km/h and above.. 160km/h trains are categorized as HrSR (Higher Speed Rail) or Semi-HSR.. in this category, the Malaysian railway ETS is the first to operate such train in Southeast Asia.. Still this is a great breakthrough for Laos, as eventhough this train is not yet a true HSR, its quality of setvice is no different to a true HSR..

Yes, and it is a single line. Although it looks the same.

This is just the beginning, there will be more surprises in the future.

This is a passenger train not container train or not? You don’t ship goods on passenger trains. Singapore and Malaysia stopped rail link same for Thailand if I am not mistaken. How can you travel by train from Kunjing to Singapore?
As for tourists, how many chinese tourists will visit Laos? Laos is not Thailand. As for transportation, Laos total trades is about $12 billion per year, not bad, but much lower if compared to Vietnam of $600 billion.

LOL... Please google more before make comment. It can definitely ferry goods. Dual purpose, the same situation in China.

Definitely, Chinese will visit Laos more once transport is easy. This is a basic concept. With highspeed train, Chinese citizen from Kumming can reach Laos in just 1-2 hours of train ride. Why not?

China builds fast... In contrast to Japan's Vietnamese pet project that hasn't bore fruit.

China’s rise will also help the development of countries in the Global South. China will be able to provide goods & services, large consumer market, investment capital, financing loans, infrastructure building, civilian technology, military weaponary, tourism revenue source, political support at the UNSC (veto power).

Yes, it will be connected with Bangkok HSR (currently under-Construction, expected to be finished in 2023) part of China-Thailand HSR Projects.

Also will be connected with China-Cambodia HSR (via Bangkok to Phnom Penh & Sihanoukville all the way to Kunming, China)

Singapore itself very keen to be Connected with Trans-Asian HSR built by China.

Malaysia is very labile, like little girl.
But with the Operation of HSR in Laos, Thailand, & Indonesia. Malaysia of course doesn't want to get left behind.

They will restart the project very soon

The political theater can only be sustained as long as the project seems far away.
Once the China-Laos-Thailand railway nears completion, neighbouring countries will cease the political farce and start tapping on the low hanging fruit of economic gains and quite literally jump on the train.

it’s great that it focuses on freight, so it can recoup the investment ASAP.
Yes. It will be absurd if the line is for passagers only like a real high speed railway. China-Laos railway only bought two sets of CR 200j. There will be only 4 pairs of passenger trains a day but 14 pairs freight trains scheduled.
