DRDO's main concern is to retain scientists'
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will make a strong case for providing incentives to scientists and retaining them, K.V. Raghavan, chairman of DRDO's Recruitment and Assessment Centre, has said.
Talking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Dr. Raghavan said the main concern of DRDO was to retain scientists. "Here we have to compete with multinational companies. Extra efforts need to taken to retaining these scientists."
He said a proposal had been made before the Finance Commission for giving performance-linked incentives to scientists.
Dr. Raghavan said a majority of those recruited to DRDO were from State universities. He said the lack of graduates from basic sciences had not been a concern for the recruitment centre in selecting quality scientists. "We face competition from institutes such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Indian Council of Medical Research," he said.
Dr. Raghavan said the recruitment centre maintained a steady flow of young scientists by recruiting on an average 450 persons every year at the entry level.
