Havent we heard this before as well.. ? Will be interesting to see what effect this "discovery" has on the non-moving Kaveri.

yes its the same......

So what does this mean in regard to Kaveri development as SCB was one of the main focus point in its development.
SCB able to withstand more mechanical stress and higher operating temperature ......unlike directionally solidification which is used presently....

But DRDO presented Directionally solidified blades quite sometime ago and said that they were working towards very high heat resistive blades

Directionally solidified blades (DSB) is from 70s technology where SCB is 90s technology....
SCB have higher turbine inlet temperature than DSB.......
SCB>>>>1150 C
DSB>>>>1000 C

Directionally solidified blades used quite sometime ago and looks like parallely they were working on the SCB casting and successful in making SCB
