DRDO develops drug to improve soldiers' calibre

Jammu: The DRDO has developed a herbal drug to improve physical and mental performance of security personnel working in high altitude where oxygen concentration is low.

"The Defence Research Development Organisation has formulated 'Perfomax', a composite herbal drug found to improve the physical and mental performance of security personnel working in high altitude and hypoxic conditions," Defence PRO (Jammu) SN Acharya said here today.

The formulation is rich in antioxidants and other bioactive compounds that improve performance of brain, heart, kidney and lungs and improves blood circulation, he said.

The trial of the drug was conducted in various high altitude areas, particularly in Ladakh region, Acharya said.

Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju had launched 'Perfomax' last week in Leh district, he said.

Drdo should stop these researches.Alopathy is 1000 times more effective than herbal medicine.

Yeah right, I have heard of people who like to cure even a small disease they have in a worser manner going Alopathy way.

No offence just on a lighter not.... i wonder the kind of fragile performance DRDO has over the years....it may have the other way round effect....last thing you want is the whole army brigade suffering during the war..............

But really why is DRDO experimenting with the things that are bit irrelevant in sense of them being bit un-conventional rather than focusing on the things that really matter for india . Its been 3-4 times over past few months that DRDO has come up with some kind of cream/herbal formula but the main things are still hanging somewhere around the bushes

Sir, DRDO have dedicated bio wings like Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory(DEBEL)..what do you expect from a bio R&D lab??
I think the herbal medicines are good choice as they dont produce side effects or if any it will be minor..these drugs will improve the health conditions of soldiers stationed at high altitude.

Why does pakistanis bad mouth DRDO or for that matter any Indian agencies?
Is it because India strives hard to be technologicaly independent inspite of a long ban by USA and west on India's key Defence related industry and hence India has to have many failure before she produces good technologies!!!!
You may laugh at us now but in the long run guess who will have advantage of a solid indigenous defence industries with little or no reliability on other countries!!!!!!!
To buy most of the technology from other countries and to boast it as a success is very easy but to develop your own technology!!!!! there lies the challenge!!!!!

Yeah if alcohol was be sold through Govt shops why not marijuana afterall from what I can observe, alcohol causes much more damage to organs than marijuana.

Consuming alcohol is beneficial by changing body metabolism thereby that soldiers won't feel cold much. wat is the use of narcotics? at high altitudes .
