DRDO develops corner-shot rifle for counter-insurgency

A multi caliber corner shot.

Can somebody explain the fascination with multi caliber weapons for the Indian Army?
This way you guys don't need to develop a whole new gun for a different cartridge. :undecided:

Saves time and money.

well you dont need do devlop a whole new gun all you need to do is change barrel and mag almost all current NATO and russian assult rifels have the same feature

i think what DRDO has done is a cheap and ugly ripoff of israeli corner shot and thats it (which incwedentelli can be configuered to use a multi calliber rifle / hand gun / granade launcher) depending upon the requirement of the mission

Gurujee i was talking about DRDO Multi-caliber Next Generation rifle.

But that just messes with the logistics chain for the IA. They'll have to support 3 different types of ammo instead of one
Better than the case right now where the IA is already supporting 2 types of ammo (7.62 and 5.56mm) and 2 different rifles (AK and INSAS). This way the basic rifle is the same so all the parts will be the same, the only difference is the barrel, magazine and ammo- should make the IA's logistics easier.

i think DRDO should add a shoulder dambper on stalk of its new Multi calliber rifle & proposed corner short machenism as it will make the rifle more conrolable and accurate as the user will not have to bear the recoil kick from the 7.62 ammo or the corner short

Indeed and it's not the DRDO Corner-Shot but the CornerShot (this is a trade marked name of the original) that is already in widespread use across India.

There is probably not much new tech involved in the guns development, the idea admittedly is innovative but the tech needed is relatively easier to procure, so I see no reason for chest thumping here....
