ISLAMABAD: The draft of the uniform curriculum to be introduced by the federal government nation-wide has surfaced, highlighting the subjects to be part of it, ARY NEWS reported.

According to details, the curriculum would be based on the teaching of Quran and Sunnah while the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal were also made a part of it.

It also included topics on climate change while subjects pertaining to history, national economy and cultural values are also a part of it.

The uniform syllabus would also carry subjects related to rule of law, democracy, and patriotism.

Basic mathematics, social development, and subjects pertaining to literacy rate will also be a part of the curriculum along with topics relating to the safety and rights of children.

English will be taught as a language rather than a subject while human rights and social development subjects will also be a part of the uniform syllabus.

Teachings of Islam (Islamiyat) will be taught as a compulsory subject from grade one rather than from grade three.

It is pertinent to mention here that Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood in September 2019 said the government is committed to implementing uniform curriculum across the county.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, he said: “We are heading towards one nation one curriculum and efforts are being made to achieve this objective.”

The minister said, in a recent joint meeting of the National Curriculum Committee it was suggested that a new uniform curriculum should be implemented before March 2020 but experts from all the provinces asked for more time.

A great initiative.....

As for Pak History, especially regarding the break-up of the East Pak, here's my suggestion. Every Pak kid needs to know it by heart:

  • "They are the friends of our enemies" - Jinnah seeing the Bangal traitors, a small % of the total population, torpedoing the very essence of Pak - Two Nation Theory - at the order of their Indian Hindu Overlords back in 1948
  • BD is the most successful RAW ops via fake news, black propaganda, traitor terrorists etc.
  • Mujib and his cohorts - all slaves of the Indian Hindus - executed the total ethnic cleansing of the Muhajir folks by killing, raping, burning etc. of around 1 million men, women, kids, babies, elderly etc. Pak military ops was to put a stop to it. But, it was too late, too little
  • Muslims in BD eliminated Mujib and his regime for selling out them to India by destroying Pak
  • Listen to India, and get ready to live like the Muslims in India, who curse the births and celebrate the deaths. And, like the Muslims in BD under the absolute capitulation to India on a permanent basis

I'm highly skeptical of this curriculum. I'm hugely pro-Islam, but I can't trust the Pakistani government to properly instruct students in Islam. The Pakistani government will doubtlessly craft some version of Islam that is a distortion of the Faith. At the very least, the Madaris (which are the fortress of Islam and guarding Islamic orthodoxy) have to remain independent from the slightest State interference, including in the matter of funding.
It's quite comical that in Pakistan you have mixed gender classrooms, with some female teacher not even observing veil, teaching her students "Islamiyat". I can only imagine what kind of Islamiyat that is going to be. Definitely not orthodox Islam.

it is a good effort but it will fail as there are two types of extremes in our society. on one hand we have fawad ch ,shireen mazari type people and on the other hand there are people like this "cherub 786". liberals vs extremists will clash.

Also, Model Textbooks of Education, the Reforms & Textbook Development Wing, and the School Education Department have been developed by the federal government to be adopted by all the streams of education in the province.

The notification that was undersigned by the Managing Director Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board, Dr. Farooq Manzoor, read:

It will most likely be orthodox Sufi Islam, don’t confuse it with Razakhani sect. Students should be taught in Urdu so they can learn Urdu, National language of Pakistan.
