He was captured towards end of November, inside the erstwhile East Pakistan by Indian troops....which explains the volatile situation on the ground.
On the contrary, Abhinandan was captured by Pakistani Troops inside Pakistan....comprehend the difference.

The Indian army was inside East Pakistan, artillery duels and air battles were already taking place there with full deployment enforced and all you are interested in is the declaration date.
If you must then for the same effort why not make heroes of the IAF Canberra crew which was shot down by PAF while on a spy mission or what about the pilot of IAF Toofani which strayed into Pakistan and was forced down in fact better still, why let Kambampati Nachiketa disappear into history, after all he was shot down during much larger hostilities than the Balakot conflict.

He shot down the F-16 over Azad Kashmir, but was taken captive by the Pakistan Army after his plane was shot down by enemy forces.

that guy has my respect for keeping his composure till now, haven't seen him babbling about his "heroic" acts on that day, also he unlike others is actually battle hardened and has learned some VERY invaluable lessons especially when it comes to being POW. I don't see being a POW being a hinderance with promotions. What happens in PAF? if a person is shot down becomes POW and is back to active duty will he/she not get any further promotions or what?

Yup they do get promoted, one of them even became an air chief. The purpose of this thread is for trolling and meaningless sensationalism. One must see that trolling is a sport especially at the forums

This incident was in prelude to a full scale war hence he was kept a POW for 18 Months, where as Abhinandan was given a cup of Tea, a new suit and returned a few days later like Chandu Babu Lal.

He should be demoted to warrant officer (air men) for humiliating his country infront of the whole world.
