Don't Be Scared to Squeeze Pakistan

Well there is no such thing as puppet in the arena of geopolitics, if we go by that definition then probably the sole sovereign state would be the US as the global power and to some lesser extent China or Russia.
Countries make decisions based on their national interests and its in the Afghan interest to host American bases an that is why we have signed a strategic agreement with them which was ratified by the Afghan parliament.

Pakistan had hosted US forces in Pakistan in some of your air bases to operate drones in Afghanistan and also target Pakistani citizens TTP in Pakistani territory, so as you see discussion of being a puppet an being sovereign becomes very muddy very soon.

A puppet regime is a puppet regime when it is created by a foreign power that forcibly takes over a state and secondly when it starts to work for it's masters national interest rather than it's own.

Your regime fulfills both of these criteria's hence the Kabul state is a puppet regime.

As I have stated and will continue to state this again, your regime posts an existential threat to Pakistan, we will never accept an Indian threat on our western borders.

Look my friend I sincerely want Pakistan to thrive, a thriving and peaceful Pakistan positively affects Afghanistan.
But you can't just wish things and for things to take a positive turn, Pakistan is really hurting itself by following current security centric policies. It needs to make a pivot, make piece with its neighbours and focus on improving herself economically. You are nuclear power, none in the region can match you militarily because of nuclear deterrence.

Just because you have a thriving neighbour doesn't mean it will translate into success in you own country . Turkey and Syria are neighbours . Do you think just because the turks were developing the syrian's will also develop?. Moldova's PPP per capita is less than Pakistan and is surrounded by rich European countries since centuries . So did it work for them ? No.

Unless your own country doesn't do anything nothing will change . In regards to afghanistan , nothing will change unless your own corrupt leaders and tribal mentality don't change . No amount of development in Pakistan , India , China will affect Afghanistan in anyway .

just like there is a crowd in Pakistan that thinks anything that happens in the planet is a conspiracy against Pakistan, there are some in the US that think Pakistan can be 'gamed' with carrots and sticks. Neither are true.

Just like the USA had no idea that Pakistan will double deal them in the WoT, Pakistanis were shell-shocked how nasty the US openly turned on them in response. IOW the crime and the punishment were both underestimated.

IMO both simply react these days. Pakistan reacts in words to save face when US drones bombs Pakistan; and US reacts in words when Pakistan tries to push a bit too much.

Plus election season! the Modi show just acts as an amplifier to this tired dance of the incompetents

Peace will come in Pakistan when Pakistani leadership realize , that Pakistan is their destiny...
Panama leaks, Swiss accounts, corruption money etc etc ......Leadership feel safe in West not in Pakistan .

- Corruption is an issue, cannot be resolved in a short span, measures are being taken but still not enough. This illnesses doesn't only affect us but its wider regional issue. ( Panama leaks...)

- You mentioned Turkey, how many bombings or killings happened before the Syrian conflict in Turkey, now on average a couple a month which of course affects the trust of investors, businesses etc. We don't live in an island, there is direct consequence of stability in the region vis-a-vis development in a country.

- Frankly Afghans can make it work for themselves if the zero sum games played by our neighbours were to stop, I have lost count of the number of development projects being started in the last couple of months but of course Afghans Talis which are actively trained an financed beyond our borders make it hard to continue on pace when they are thought nothing but blowing schools and development projects.

Only West and Middle East can bring in Peace in Pakistan , if they don't allow black money accounts in their banks. And stop all flow of corruption money into their country, that would help alot. Imagine over 200 billion dollars of Pakistani national money sitting in Swiss bank for nothing no use. That will eventually disappear . This money will only help the West or Middle Eastern economy . Our dummy politicians hide their looted money in foreign banks and feel so secure....imagine...how stupid they are. End of day these politicians/or any govt official will eat same daal roti for survival and sleep on this earth , where billions sleeps....

There is a giant of a country to Pakistan's east whose military might dwarfs that of Pakistan. There are NATO bases to the west from where destabilization is originating and Pakistan should not follow security centric policies?

Pakistan 'leadership' realize nothing and will realize nothing. This has been going for over 3 decaades now - leaders and dictators have come, gone, come back, ran away....Pakistan simply seems incapable of fixing itself. The rot is right down the center with people fundamentally scared of their military - and so the leaders they elect cannot do anything.

And the military has been skimming and tasting the fruits all these decades and will do absolutely anything to keep the people scared. The military manufactures enemies for the people to be scared about.

After comparing Zaradari era and Musharraf era, I won't blame military.

US needs Pakistan and Pakistan needs US. But US having interests spread across the world can find other satellite countries if Pakistan slips out of its influence.

With developments in US relations with India and Pakistan aligning its economic and strategic interests with China, it seems like lines are already being drawn. It does not mean a showdown. It just means US and Pakistan both dont find their interests in the region aligning with each other.

.
- Pressurize IMF / World Bank / ADB and other economic entities to slow down its workings with Pakistan.
- Stop US economic and military support to Pakistan
- Put selective people in the military establishment on a sanction list.
- Prude EU to cuts its economic and military dealings with Pakistan.

I think there are hundreds of ways where the US can really hurt Pakistan if she wants too
Agreed. However would you dare do that? 195 million people country, 100s of nukes, huge nuclear infrastructure, missile systems, massive military with all manner of weapons. Would you want to push this country over the edge?

I don't think so.

One must always follow the money.

American begging, encouragement, persuasion, pressure could not change the gulf Arabs support for the fundos. The money kept flowing to the talis in Afghanistan from the Gulf. If the money had stopped, the problem could have been solved.

A lot depends on how the gulf countries react to Iran (post sanctions). There are lots of opportunities here for Pakistan - Especially if the situation heats up in the gulf. The saudi/UAE/Qataris are not going to take a Iran dominant middle east lying down.

Pakistan has good relations with Iran. We need to encourage trade, build pipelines, hell even grant Iran's wish to benefit from the CPEC. At the same time, the gulf countries depend on Pakistan militarily. Whether it is the defense of the royal families, the Pakistani Airforce personnel serving in Gulf, regular soldiers, intelligence, etc, these countries are dependent on Pakistan's support. This should continue also. Pakistan needs to milk this situation to the max.

Gulf countries wasted their money due to lack of enemies and no real problems. They depended on US protection and became the american policy enforcers in the Gulf. How much money did the gulf contribute to the IMF/World Bank? How much oil wealth did they have? How did it help the Muslim countries?

You only remember your friends when bad times are coming. And for saudi/Gulf countries, bad times are coming, if they are not already here.

Don't worry about Turkey. With 79 cents in the treasury, she invaded Cyprus to carve out a safe home for the Turks over there. No matter what the cost is, nobody will be allowed to destabilize Turkey coming from Syria or Iraq. Iran is playing all sorts of tricks and backstabbing, but she should know not to push Turkey's patience too much. Turkey doesn't play with proxies, they have to gather enough courage for a face-to-face showdown..

USA is not a friend never been our friend they played us and still our stupid decision makers do not understand

It is possible to restore some certain level of peace in Afghanistan... only if pushtoons are also taken in to govt according to their ethnic ratio since they are 42% of entire afghan population and single largest ethnic group among rest, most of talban groups are also basically pushtoons, its a simple deal but politicians and warlords will never let it happend
