Then it focuses on the controversial Canal Road Widening Project which would cut down anywhere fro 3 to 5 thousand of the 8 thousand trees along the canal to serve the expanding needs of the 24 percent population of Lahore that has private transport. Sustainable development comes into focus while discussing the value of maintaining the canal.

I think Canal Road now becoming the main artery of Lahore connecting Motorway and this way extension of Lahore from Johar town onwards. Canal Road needs extension to minimum 6 lanes extension or the traffic is going massively increase in 2 years.

Canal Road must be renamed as Canal Highway!!
