Keep in mind that those working instead of being able to attend college have a 3-4 year lead in work experience. Not that I recommend it; if you can, try and get yourself a good education. It offers a whole lot of new perspectives and most importantly, you build a network of like-minded friends and acquaintances that are always there to support you in life.

Lets put it in a very crude way... would someone still care for Stephen Hawking if he was someone without education or any academic accomplishments to his name?

Hi,

I was just wondering----Would his name be by any chance @airomerix :enjoy::enjoy::enjoy:--- he was questioning my college university education a short time ago---.
Please...

Arab community is the same , I don't think it's an issue of respect but rather people do look at you as either being a failure or lazy. I don't know why they get into others business so much but it is what it is.

That being said, if you can afford to go to college, go get a degree even if you graduate late. It's better than not having a degree. Unless you grew up in a business family and already well integrated into business culture/world.

But don't ever be bothered by what people say. Some genuinely don't care and are happy for everyone. But others always like to put people down.

I do not judge people based on their education, but aware of the fact that its a big deal among South-Asian and East-Asian American folks.

A college degree essentially says one has the ability to study something for about the length of a semester to answer questions in exams and/or write a term paper. So college degree certainly increases employability, however your personality will determine the person you are.

So was Steve Jobs, Bill gates, Micheal Dell etc

The issue is, out of tens of thousands of drop-outs, these 10 made it big.

Out of billions of graduates also may be only 100 made it big, but at least 70-80% of the graduates managed a decent middle class life. Clearly dropping out is a higher risk option.

It is like in a business. Higher the risk, higher the gain. But only 0.1% of the high risk takers makes it big. On the other hand graduating is a low risk-low return option, wherein 70-80% manages a middle class life.

Now it is upto the individual to decide which path he or she wants to pursue.
