I'm going to assume that an alien invasion force is going to be carbon based and evolved in some sort of non-corrosive atmosphere, uses liquid water and have a 100-200 year lead in technology on us. That probably means they have quantum computers, extensive networking, railguns, lasers, nukes, fusion, hibernation and maybe the ability to build large (1 km+ in length) spacecraft in orbit, but maybe only be able to achieve 0.1% lightspeed (which is thousands of times faster than we can go right now and far greater than galactic escape velocity).

Their objective is to take earth for habitation. This means that they need to preserve, at the minimum, liquid water, an oxygen atmosphere and minimal biomass. They are a colonizing fleet of 100 ships filled with the last billion refugees of their race in hibernation or as frozen embryos with most of the ships functions taken care of by robots.

We observe their engine exhaust from its IR signal at 2 lightyears away. They arrive in 20 years or so.

Do we stand a chance?

No, we should unload all our nukes at each other and have our own fun before the coming beat-down slaughter.

The aliens can't take Earth.

Use the suicide-bomber strategy.

Set tens of thousands of thermonuclear weapons on hair-trigger alert.

We hold Earth hostage.

Also, the Russians are fond of the idea of blowing up the super-volcano in Yellowstone. Earth won't be habitable for a long time.

The strategy is to keep fighting until they try to take over the planet. If you are out of options, detonate everything. They'll get nothing. This is the classic scorched-earth strategy.

Pointless, only reason would be for slavery. Non-AI robots would be of better use to aliens, no chance of rebellion.

I dunno...I think we end up as red milkshakes with the aliens having the straws.

We have enough aliens on earth killing human beings in the name of religion. Can't deal with them yet..

. .
:raise:if that is the case then we all should start doing this workout daily
100 push ups
100 squats
100 sit ups
10 km running
and remember to not use air conditioning or heater in any weather
keep training until we all go bald
this will be the only way that we will be able to beat them beat them:yay::whistle:
workout of saitama sensei is our only hope

Just 100-200 years ahead of us in technology? The universe is about 15 billion years old, and the Solar System less than 4 billion years old. There could be other systems in the universe that sprouted advanced civilizations millions, if not billions of years even before our Solar System was born! That means they are millions of years ahead of us in technology!

Did you know about the 'Kardashev Scale' - Type I, II, III, IV & V ALIEN Civilizations?

Here's what many aren't aware of - The Kardashev Scale for Alien Civilizations. This is pretty mind boggling to say the least! This makes for a fascinating read.....

What a Rama type cylindrical space craft or a Dyson Sphere could look like

Theorists assert that, as a civilization grows larger and becomes more advanced, its energy demands will increase rapidly due to its population growth and the energy requirements of its various machines. With this in mind, the Kardashev scale was developed as a way of measuring a civilization’s technological advancement based upon how much usable energy it has at its disposal.

The scale was originally designed in 1964 by the Russian astrophysicist, Nikolai Kardashev (who was looking for signs of extraterrestrial life within cosmic signals). It has 3 base classes, each with an energy disposal level: Type I (10¹⁶W), Type II (10²⁶W), and Type III (10³⁶W). Other astronomers have extended the scale to Type IV (10⁴⁶W) and Type V (the energy available to this kind of civilization would equal that of all energy available in not just our universe, but in all universes and in all time-lines).

These additions consider both energy access as well as the amount of knowledge the civilizations have access to.

Firstly, it is important to note that the human race is not even on this scale yet. Since we still sustain our energy needs from dead plants and animals, here on Earth, we are a lowly Type 0 civilization (and we have a LONG way to go before being promoted to a type I civilization). Kaku tends to believe that, all things taken into consideration, we will reach Type I in several hundred years time. But what does each of these categories actually stand for in literal terms?

And to think we Earthlings aren't anywhere even near Type 0 as yet!!

So, to reiterate, the Solar System came into being just about 4 billion years ago in a universe which is over 15 billion years old. It is thus logical to assume that there are other Solar Systems that came into existence millions if not billions of years earlier than we did. Highly advanced cultures on such systems would have technology that would seem not just magic to us but plain miraculous!

Type IV and V civilizations could even have the ability to travel through parallel universes or multiverses. Traveling through time and wormholes to other galaxies would be like a walk in the park for them.

So, do we have a chance against an alien invasion? You tell me!

But wars, religion and bloodshed in such advanced civilizations would be passe. They would have grown spiritually too and invasions and wars would be unknown to them. They would have grown out of this millions of years ago while we on earth keep squabbling with each other and will probably take thousands of years to banish wars and conflicts from earth too.

So, no! We ain't gonna be invaded by aliens, but by ourselves!

with diverse kind of knowledge, not just science, no other creature or race can out run humans ever. Every creation has limitations, humans dont.

Why would aliens invade a violent earth and lose their peace of mind( & soul) ? It will certainly set them back by millions of years of advancement.

The type of aliens I'm talking about (200 years ahead, so type 1-type 2) would likely be recognizable to us.

A type 2 civilization would already be sci-fi level (as in, Starcraft or Star Trek level).

A type 3 civilization would be fatansy level (Star Wars).

A type 4 civilization would be indistinguishable from natural phenomena.

Why would aliens invade a violent earth and lose their peace of mind( & soul) ? It will certainly set them back by millions of years of advancement.

If they were refugees from a nearby system, and superior technologically, their backs are to the wall and it'll be "it's either us or them" scenario. a vastly superior alien race would have no reason to even bother with us, but one that was only a few hundred years ahead would definitely have reasons to bother with us.
