Do you agree with how DG ISPR engages on twitter?

His press engagement during the recent Indo/Pak skirmish was really good but his conduct on twitter leaves much to be desired.

I am not sure Pakistan Army needs its chief spokesperson to engage every other gullly ka kutta on twitter.

When you do it even with your personal account, you not only expose yourself but as someone representing Pakistan Army, the whole institution to 2-bit twitter insults. Recently he was even replying to random Bharati journalists.

There are more than enough patriotic Pakistanis (literally thousands) who can counter lies against our state.

I liked General Bajwa's conduct more. There was a sense of firmness and he let the actions of the institution do the talking instead of putting himself in the spotlight.

I like what he's doing. You have to understand these "opinions" are deliberate targeted attacks on the credibility of our armed forces. It's a key part of 5th generation warfare. A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth. Plenty of people respond to the lies and tear them down, but the value of those responses is not the same as that of DG ISPR. He also has a massive following on twitter and his comments are RT'd and hit a huge audience. The lies are exposed by a figure of authority and the counter narrative is spread far and wide amongst the general populous. The average PDf member will probably be able to counter many of the lies, but the credibility is nothing amongst the general population, because they don't know you - they know DG ISPR.

At a time where our media is sold out, our opposition is sold out - we need leadership and he provides it.

To the people voting Yes, I would like to read your reasons on why you think his strategy on personally handling social media insults is a better strategy as compared to what we saw with previous DG ISPR's?

Maybe other professional armies in NATO and the FAR-EAST could learn a thing or two from General Ghafoor when it comes to twitter engagement !

It should have been our job as pakistanis citizens to reply to anti Pakistan tweets for sure.

But there is a new trend, even in France, politicians are using tweeter as a new ground to do politics at national level. So what is wrong if DG ISPR use tweeter to shup up the people who use their press card, or anything else which could add weight to their venom against Pakistan?

Remember DG ISPR is not alone, he has surely an entire team behind him.

Its new fight ground.

And DG ISPR tweet has more weight than mine.

We all criticise but clearly time and time again it has been proven that they know what they are doing, The media in Pakistan is a prostitute that has a price we all know this. all bark and no clout. I never see the media do anything for Pakistan and yet there are so many channels.

When there is a void in the narrative and narrative is very important! someone will fill that void.

why do you have an issue with his presence on social media? ISPR is in its name Public relations.

I personally think its in-between. There should be some engagement on twitter but some times he tweets about un-necessary things. Like last engagement in February was brilliant, but there was also tweets about downing toy/public/cheap drones, which should have been posted by some lower level officer but not him.

That is a solid argument but I have seen him go overboard. There is a fine line here which he has to maintain.

If he goes down in the gutter with them, he is only going to get dirt on himself.

I think the DG ISPR should have less of a personal role. He should not have a separate twitter account as he does now. He needs to build a team of officers comprising of all branches of the Armed Forces. The different members of the team should handle different media engagements based on importance. The twitter handle should be "Office of the DG ISPR" and each tweet should have multiple checks before being okied to be tweeted.

This is a scenario which can easily be changed. It has happened in Turkey and Hungary and no reason it cannot happen in Pakistan.

As I have said, I liked General Asim Bajwa's approach more.

You are comparing politicians to a spokesperson of a professional army.

The more apt comparison would be with spokespersons of other professional armies.

As if he is going to listen to what we think.

The important thing is that he should know what he is doing and we have no choice but to trust him that he knows.
