boss u are vry young and taking a very micro view to what i had said and draging one language thing...and ignorning anything else that i may have spoken about...did you even read when i said - the end result is ONE COUNTRY and path can be any...

look at the macro view to what i speak...

let me tell u why i see a difference in our thinking...i belong to family of defence forces...like u see ocean and u only see water....u look at my family and u only see Airforce and Army...so this is how we are trained to think...

1. we are trained to look as India as india and ignore the states
2. we are trained to ignore any language difference within us
3. we are trained to ignore and religion differnce betwen us
4. we are trained to ignore any cast difference between us...
5. we are posted in eastern india to southern india to western or the front...and live in INDIA and not in states.

hence for me - INDIA is one entity and other states do not exist. coz when the men in forces die fighting a war - they die for the country and not states. they take pride in being from india and not from regions...u will probably never get it.

YES I AM EMOTIONAL WHEN IT COMES TO MY NATION

you are in the army? cool , i have great respect for soldiers
India is one entity for me and I love it as a whole too .....I have'nt advocated anything different in my post. :what:
Frankly it does'nt make much sence to fight with a fellow indian on a pakistani forum
I think we better end this discussion before the mods come back :azn: in the mean time

Seriously guys don't mean to rain in on your argument but as a Pakistani, Indians who aren't Kashmiri cannot say that they have similarities to us. When i was a kid my local mosque i used to go to was full of Indian (mainly Gujarati) people and honestly we Pakistanis never got along with them not because of any hatred because as a kid you don't think about race/culture/colour of the skin but due to the fact we were raised differently, our society was totally alien to theirs and thus we were socially different.

Its really annoying when Indians say we're similar, when this statement itself couldn't be more further from the truth. We're two different sets of people who are different socially, culturally, ethnically and linguistically. Although we are different it doesn't mean we shouldn't work together for peace and show mutual respect to one another.

:) so do i respect them a lot - coz i live with them...i did not say i am in army - but family of army and airforce...granddad, dad, bros, uncles, aunts everyone...

we keep looking at india as one and that is why it hurts when some of us try to break it in states etc...that is where my anger comes from...

chill...and yeah jai jawan - jai kissan !!!

(by the way - many comments of mine may look to you like pro pak as well - so dont doubt my nationality - as i look at logic and respect people and soldiers on the other side as well - and also am big critic of india and mess within - only coz i want it to improve)

While what you said is absolutely correct, we indians look at the very same thing differently.

Thing is, Gujaratis, Tamilians or any other hundreds of minorities in India are different than me, hence some north indians suggest that they are closer to pakistanis culturally than to these other indians minorities.

The idea behind it is not to make a claim on pakistan, but just a factual statement as far as they are concerned. A tamilin or marathi or gujarati will not say they are same as pakistanis, but a bengali may say he's same as bangladeshis.

don't u have people culturally, linguistically and ethnically different in pakistan - like pashtuns?

i may be many things, but certainly not an idiot :D

Unlikey, as the problem is not Kashmir but hatred linked to religion, racism and history.

there is no hatered in india towards religion or racism for sure (may be it is true in pak but not in india)...as we have enough muslim population here and too many races to discriminate with just 1...yes history has lot of bitterness but that may fade in generations to come as they will be further from partition era...if Holocaust can be forgotten i am sure this too will be...

kashmir is an issue that will remain to be solved...

We are different... and no India and Pakistan will never get along, even if kashmir gets solved. Its just not possible, especially right now this kinda talks makes little sense. Pakistan and india both have their problems to deal with right now, Pakistan has bigger issues and most of them are internal.

Pakistan as it stands has been driven too far by provincial politics and frequent coups, we as pakistanis need to realise our internal problems and forget about India for the time being. Our problem isn't the taliban or the TTP, rather this recent war has exposed the real problems Pakistan is facing i.e The huge divide between the provinces, the corruption within the ranks, the way half of Pakistan is developed and half of it is still living in the stone age. The way pakistanis are starting to feel alienated as Pakistanis and united as hazarans or bhawalpurians or pakhtoons or punjabis. This is the biggest threat that Pakistan is facing right now, and im afraid 1971 didnt teach us anything or we would have prevented all this.

Likewise India has seen a growth spurt, but im afraid there recent progress has instilled in them an over-confidence that is blinding them to the emerging internal threats, the maoists among the biggest one massive poverty and so on and so forth. A country that aspires to be a super power shouldnt be sitting idle while the maoists are randomly killing people everyday and while hunger is still rampant.

u will be surprised to know how many pakistanis have asked me if i am from pak and using an indian jhanda...(Flag)...!!! coz they probably could not digest how an indian is not anti pakistan, and not beating them without reason and agreeing with so many wrongs in india itself...my motive is simple...unless we identify our problems we cannot solve it...i want India to be problem a free country...from inside out...

.
Well i personally think we can't reach a solution with guns in our hands. If there is any that will be on the negotiating table.
After more than 60 years of animosity we must get mature enough to learn from past and not carry it(our past) with us.

we need more thots like urs in youth at both ends...hopefully this kind of thot process someday will actually resolve the issues...

A Pakistani/Indian Hindu is always my brother, not in religion but in humanity. I can't speak for any Pakistani but myself, i have no hatred for any religion and i respect Hinduism. As neighbouring countries we should have peaceful interfaith debates with one another to help cause awareness and harmony between people of differing faiths. For majority of the moderate Pakistani its purely an issue of Kashmir, i personally would only want the Valley of Kashmir to be a part of Pakistan.

Ofcourse we are bro but i feel we are very similar socially and the different ethnicities in Pak do share some important cultural values. I've got friends from all provinces of Pak in the U.k, we get on really well, i never felt we're different to each other and ethnicity never becomes a question when the person is a Pakistani.

interesting -

1) i dont think it is abt religion here...india has many muslims who live in harmony with hindus and others ...so some more sitting in another country would not bother them.........the way u spoke abt the B school population etc ... similarly that lot and much more in India DOES agree to fanaticism in India...we have enuff problems internally relating to that and more...so the educated and aware population is NOT living in denial....

2) i think for gov's ego is larger than resourses or any amt of $$$

i still have IMMENSE and utmost respect for soldiers - both sides of the border...coz they knowingly die for the country with sc***d up systems...and not solving this issue...those families sacrifice their lives for leaders who deserve to be held answerable for unable to solve the problems...

Mind u - as i am on LOC - i talk for both the countries here !!!
A little correction, my cousin is living Hyderabad India, he tells me a different story, He is saying that the place where he is living is having a curfew due to some Hindu Muslims conflicts, two mosques are already being burnt(shaheed) and 17 being stoned(heard this a week ago),
I REALLY DID NOT WANTED TO OPEN THIS MATTER HERE (unlike you guys enjoy discussing our matters), BUT I WAS JUS CORRECTING THE BOLD PARTS OF YOUR ESSAY,
So you don't really need to correct me cuz i noe the reality, lots of my hyderabadi friends in Canada are saying the same thing, I wish the conflicts are over soon because my relative lives there and i care about them:cheers:

if what u believe is true...india will be on fire every day coz of the number of Muslims living here...

any how the issue in hyd is very different today and have nothing to do with hindu / muslim kinds - Telangana issue is burning hyd in totallity and not just ppl of 1 religion...if u have a relative there so do we and many friends...hence we want peace there more desperately than u do...

Again, not disputing your own personal thoughts / experience, but my own experience is different. Its easier for me to be friends with Pakistanis than with someone from rural south India or East india (I'n not even north indian). Am I saying we are the same, no, but I am saying we are made up of different people, hence its possible that for some the 'closeness' may transcend national boundaries.

Maybe because India is more diverse than Pakistan, we think differently, or are compelled to to survive. Just a thought.

I also know Pakistanis who think we are the same but say they will never say that in front of their families and friends because people will not like it, its just an opinion, and a harmless one, isn't it?
