DM: Iran Building 20 Types of Drones

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced that the country's defense ministry is building 20 types of reconnaissance and offensive drones.

He said late Saturday in an interview with Iran's state-run tv that the process of building the new drone capable of attacking air-to-air missiles is underway.

On the indigenous long-range spy and reconnaissance drone, Karrar, he stressed that the Iranian Army forces will unveil the latest drones capable of attacking air-to-air missiles in the near future.

In relevant remarks yesterday, Deputy Defense Minister for Industrial and Research Affairs Mohammad Eslami underlined Iran's great achievements in manufacturing different types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and announced that Tehran plans to unveil its long-range drone late in May.

"We are producing 20 types of UAVs inside the country, which are classified in the three categories of long, short and mid-range and altitude," Eslami said on Iranian TV.

He said the long-range category is known as a strategic class, and added the mid-range drones are used for reconnaissance missions, while the short-range drones are suitable for training courses and wargames.

He noted the production of the strategic class of drones, and said, "We hope to soon unveil new strategic drones which can fly up to 30,000 feet in altitude and 24 hours of nonstop flight."

He noted that the drones are used in different ranges depending on their missions, and stated, "God willing, the country's newest hi-tech, long-range drone will be unveiled on May 24."

Iran has recently made giant advancements in aerospace industries, specially in designing and manufacturing pilotless drones.

In September, Iran announced that it has started using UAVs for its air defense units as part of its broader plans for strengthening the country's air defense capability.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of the National Day of Air Defense here in Tehran on September 3, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli said Iran has equipped its air defense units with Haazem drones.

The drone can be used as a target for air defense systems and also for reconnaissance missions.

Haazem can also be equipped with missiles and used for aerial bombardments as well.

this should be taken seriously, Iran got a a lot of tech from downed US drones over the years so it will probably be a very capable UCAV

after every one or two days iran releases another children toys..

good good

to kill the zionist intruding birds(pigeons/parrots/cranes) etc
while this children toys, has prevented US and his allies to attack Iran, some of these birds (pigeons/parrots/cranes) are killing your women and children daily and you don't even dare to respond.:disagree:

so what?do you know during Persian gulf war an american drone destroyed one Iraqi mig-25 in air?
do you know **** about X-47B?

Well I think it was Iraqi mig that destroyed USA drone . The drone fired a hellfire which let say is not optamised for targeting fixed wing airplanes

im a bit sure about it.
the American drone fired a stinger AtoA missile at Iraqi mig however the drone itself destroyed by the Iraqi mig too.so both of them were destroyed.

What is the definition of an "attacking air-to-air missile"?

do you know during Persian gulf war an american drone destroyed one Iraqi mig-25 in air?

Exactly opposite scenario had been happened.

do you know **** about X-47B?

The X-47B is a strike "fighter-sized" unmanned aircraft. not a fighter with air to air missiles but with guided bombs.

son, first of all X-47 is able to fire AtoA missiles same as neuron as far as both of them are equiped with AESA radar.secondly the Iraqi mig destroyed by the stinger missile from American drone.and thirdly there is nothing wrong with the meaning of "attacking AtoA missile.

have fun with super Turkish weapon instead.

Yes I am falsefagger and you're not. You're a pathetic kid with nothing to do other than going Iran trying to find fault in an Iranian news without using your head and realizing maybe, there is a miss translation.
ridiculous troll.

I only have posted a few of the bugs I have found on Ghaher 313. Just because I did not want to harm Iranian members feeling.

Correct Statement. The X-47B is an US Navy UCAV which has the ability to drop JDAM weapon systems and CM. It is not intented to have an role in Air to Air engagements (i.e. they lack Short range Sindwindes and LR AMRAAMs). The F-35B is intended to fufill the role Navy air-defence, along with the F/A-18 Superhornet.

@kollang :

Ignore this fool, he claims to be Iranians and yet cannot even read farsi.

""attacking air-to-air missile".
Moronic troll, They said it is capable of firing air to air missiles.
You need to go back to the Tork section and read torkish, it seems farsi is a bit too much for you.

Where is the farsi source?

The X-47B may have some Air-To-Air capability, but that is not it's main intended purpose. I wonder if the UCAV can carry B-61 Anti-bunker systems (god forbit it will be used in combat :-( )
