Discussion of future prediction of GDP of Bangladesh!!!

.
that is a stupid thinking. both have similiar polulations. seriously ur ministers should visit south korea to learn how a small country with tiny population competes with best in world. potential is something u have to tap. they r wasting it u shouldnt.

leave him alone dude.

Not necessarily ... by 2050 Bangladesh will have a population of 220 million and Pakistan will have 350 million. Fertility rate has gone down in BD drastically. It is only 2.3 children per woman now, 2.7 for India and around 3.7 for Pakistan. Pakistan already has more then 20 million people then Bangladesh. In 1971 Bangladesh had 70 million people and Pakistan 50 million.

.
Yes 2011 estimates but based on 1995 base year for Bangladesh. Lots of new industries has emerged since then which is not counted in the GDP. This year Bangladesh government will upgrade all those companies to include in the GDP and will make it based on 2005 base year and later it will be upgraded to 2010 base year. As most of the new industries that has emerged since 1995 such private banks, trading companies, cell phone companies, private universities, real estate companies, private tv channels etc now will be included in the GDP which is not counted in Bangladesh GDP. So it will contribute substantially to the GDP!!

Is it going to be done this year? The rebasing?

The decreased birth rate is really good thing, May god continue this trend. I wish/hope and believe that next decade is decade of bangladesh.

Bangladesh has advantages in terms of human resource and natural resource. BD proximity to asian countries make it strategically important. Recently HSBC predicted good growth in BD. Investors are looking positively in BD. BD govt has to provide Infrastructure.

Hope BD politicians will stop cat-fight and focus on infrastructure.

I'll tell you one story.. Atal jee were PM, he saw a vision of having world class road network in India. He started NHAI projetcs (National Highway authority of India). Today when I cruise on these world class road, I remember Bajpai jee. BD need a visionary like Mr Atal Bihari..

Govt mulling revising GDP base year to 2005-06
United News of Bangladesh . Dhaka

The government is mulling revising the GDP base year, as massive structural changes have occurred in the country’s economy in the last 15 years. The GDP is currently estimated taking 1995-96 as the base year.

As per the government’s plan, the GDP base year will be upgraded to 2005-06, said statistics division secretary Riti Ibrahim while talking to the news agency.

She said that at present they would not go for upgrading the GDP base year to 2010, as for doing this there is a need for conducting more surveys. The existing data will be enough to upgrade the base year to 2005, she added.

Riti said that necessary works are expected to be completed by this June for upgrading the GDP base year to 2005-06. ‘After that, we will carry out work to upgrade the base year to 2010.’

She informed that an IMF consultant had already sat with the statistics division in January regarding upgrading the GDP base year.

During the period, IMF representative AC Kulshrestha put forward some recommendations before the division.

The recommendations include upgrading the base year to 2005-06, then upgrading the base year to 2010, allowing the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics to analyse the public sector activities, also to take the profit and loss statements of the companies from the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies.

The IMF consultant also recommended strengthening the national accounting wing as well as making it an equivalent entity to the BBS, creating research groups and research cells in the BBS.

The statistics division secretary said that they would also consult with the chairman and members of the National Statistics Council regarding upgrading the GDP base year.
