Disclosing Kargil casualties would affect morale of troops: CIC

than why the hell you don't disclose the real figures

It's been disclosed, and never changed from the original figure. somewhere between 500 and 600.

Pakistani estimates it's own casualties ranging from 270 to 4000. Just food for thought.

Well answer is in front of you ---- Pakistan Army .

According to pakistanis , pakistan won the kargil war . But it took them 11 years to accept that their own soldiers participated in the war. And most funnier thing is the list of casualities changes with almost everyone.Military , former army chief , former military officials , former intelligence officilas , political leadership -- all have their own numbers.

Pakistanis don't claim they win the war. They believe it ended with no clear victor. No vijay diwas is celeberated right under point 5353 in my country. ;)

Yes, we lost very important things in kargil war and that were our solders life. Yes, we lost 527 solders and I m proved for my brave solders....

But, What Pakistan did in kargil war.... ohh god only some very little country can do like that. after war they even not accepted solders body. what was a shameful act by Pakistan. I also salute brave Pakistani solders as an Indian because life is life.

Yes, Pakistan won the Kargil war...

They lost more than thousands solders but the won.
Entire world supported India and Pakistani PM went USA for beg but they won.
They couldn't get one single inch land after war but they won .

If Pakistan people think they won so u can. we are happy and wanna more.... you can feel whatever u want to feel.....sadi kuch bhi feel kar sakte ho...no restriction

Ya ...who won world war 2...how many Russian troops died in World war 2?

Did Russian general said that disclosing war casualties would demoralize of Russia. A link to any such statement would be appreciated. ;)

Lol..

Kargil was a big success for Pakistan, claims Musharraf | Mail Online

Statements like above and your internal political rivalries on Kargil, makes you seem like a nation of fools, who can not even reach a single consensus.

It is a Musharraf's claim. Unlike India we don't celebrate something on national level which in reality would demoralize us.

Nation of fools looks stupid when it comes from an India. Like nobody deserves this title better than you guys. Not even Afghans. Believe me.

indian army falsified Kargil battle records - Brigadier (Retd) Devinder Singh

Makes sense. After all they won the war. Don't they.

That is problem with you teens...your are a victim of your own tunnel vision and you read what you want to read, without understanding and then make foolish assumption. Here are some excepts from the original article..perhaps spoon-feeding the facts might improve your understanding of it.

New Delhi: The disclosure of information related to casualties suffered by Army during Kargil war and number of militants killed cannot be made public as it would “affect morale of nation”, India’s Central Information Commission has held in an order 14 years after the war. Ironically, most of the details which Information Commissioner ML Sharma allowed the Army to withhold are already in public domain through the official website of the Press Information Bureau, a government of India department.

A feature given on the PIB website on “Operation Vijay” says that 527 soldiers and airmen laid down their lives during the Kargil war.

The curious decision of Sharma came on the plea of RTI applicant Om Prakash Kashiram who sought to know from the Army the number of militants and the Indian soldiers killed in the Kargil War and the matters related therewith.

The information which was sought last year in May was denied by army citing section 8(1)(a) of the RTI Act which allows withholding of information, disclosure of which would prejudicially affect the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security, strategic, scientific or economic interests of the State, relation with foreign State or lead to incitement of an offence.

Kashiram then preferred an appeal before the CIC contesting the claims of Army.

When the matter reached Sharma, he agreed with the views taken by Army and allowed withholding information.

“War related casualties cannot be placed in public domain without a reasonable distance of time as they affect the morale of the nation in general and that of the troops in particular.
Disclosure of such information has a bearing on the national security,” Sharma held in his order which was given nearly 14 years of the war.

Any person with reasonable intelligence can understand ..the army and CIC are only taking a principled stand on the matter, as actual Indian casualties have already been declared on govt websites.

Indian at least known all solders name and quantity but what about Pakistan people??? they will never know of thousands solders names. but, I wanna salute all Pakistani solders who die in war whatever Pakistan accepted or not our solders body and disclose solders names.

Which again proves the fact that this war was won by the propaganda created by the slavish Indian media.....you think there were no Indian prisoners or bodies handed over by Pakistan....but hey, it's the progressive Indian media which happens to be present wherever such handing over was taking place.....Brian Cloughly hit the nail on the head.

If the battle was fought on Indian part then why would pakistan hand over bodies of our soldiers?
please see that white flag of surrender waved by your soldiers and acknowledge that you guys are nothing but failures...you even abandoned your own soldiers for god's sake....disgusting is lesser world to describe this...

No more B.S. If the parameter what Pakistan set against India achieved then Pakistan won and if not then India won. simple logic. Now we have to debate on that what parameter Pakistan set and same thing applied to India
