KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui declared an emergency in the city following flooding on roads caused by a spell of monsoon rain, Express News reported on Saturday.
Reportedly, some areas are affected as there is no electricity due to the rain. According to the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation (KESC), nearly 300 feeders have tripped in the city.
Commuters are stranded as cars have stopped working in the rain. People are helping themselves as there are no authorities present.

Two children have lost their lives so far, due to a roof collapse and electrocution.

Karachi: At least ten people including two children died from electrocution and other incident in Karachi rainfall on Saturday, ARY News reported.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui declared an emergency in the city due to flooding on roads caused by a spell of monsoon rain on Saturday.

After emergency declared by Karachi Commissioner, the Fisheries Department also lifted banned on fishing in the Sea.

A 3-year-old child was killed when a roof of their house collapsed due to heavy rainfall coupled with gusty winds.

Two people died from electrocution in Paposh Nagar area of the city, power outages and sewage overflows in some areas.

After the heavy rainfall in Karachi, the roof of a CNG station collapsed at Nipa Chowrangi leaves several people injured. Meanwhile, the injured persons shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Traffic gridlock was also witnessed on a few roads mainly in areas received heavy showers.

The beginning of monsoon rains in Karachi plunge the city into darkness as the power supply suspended in various areas.

KESC Spokesman told ARY News that different areas of the metropolis were facing feeder-tripping, 300 feeders were trips due to the monsoon rain. He said that the KESC teams were working on emergency basis to control the situation.

Rainfall continues in Karachi since sehri by which weather became pleasant.

According to met office, Landhi received the maximum amount of rainfall with around 53 milimeter while 42 mm in Nazimabad, and 26 mm recorded near Karachi Airport.

Different towns in the interior of the Sindh province received rain included Mithi 12mm, Moenjodaro 1 mm, Nawabshah 3 mm, Padidan 31 mm, Jacobabad 43 mm; Dadu 15 mm; Larkana 56 mm, Sukkur 16 mm, deplo 10 mm, Chachro 32 mm, Nagerparker 15 mm, Rohri 10 mm, Mirpurkhas 25 mm.

On the other hand, power supply to several areas of the city was suspended after the rain.

The Met office told ARY News that in Balochistan province received rain included Sibi 23 mm, Kalat 36 mm, Khuzdar 16 mm, Panjgour 1 mm and Jiwani 2 mm.

The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and private airlines flights from Karachi to Islamabad, Multan and Lahore were delayed due to bad weather on Saturday, ARY News reported.

According to PIA Flight Inquiry, the flight PK 306 departure schedule from Faisalabad to Lahore was affected due to bad weather condition and will take off at 11:00 pm tonight.

A flight PK 532 was directed to land back in Karachi due to bad weather conditions in Sindh.

Meanwhile, a flight PK 304 from Karachi to Lahore will take off at 5:30 pm.

KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah removed Karachi administrator, Hashim Raza Zaidi from his post due to failure of managing post-rain crisis, reported Express News on Saturday.
The number of deaths due to the rain is expected to rise, as three children have already lost lives in separate incidents of roof collapse and electrocution.
Many areas, such as Landhi, Korangi and Liaqatabad are still without electricity and it is expected that some time will be taken before things can return to normal.
The CM has taken a notice of the situation in Karachi and relief work in parts of the city is expected to begin soon.

KARACHI: The administrator for the metropolis Hashim Raza has been sacked due to his failure of managing the post-rain crisis in the city.

The decision was taken by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah after at least ten people were killed in rain related incidents in Karachi.

Following the heavy downpour, 102 electricity feeders tripped in the city and several areas were left without electricity. Water also accumulated on roads leading to severe traffic jams.
