Following the opening of the direct shipping route to Europe in February this year, direct freight route to the United Kingdom (UK) is now set to get operational which will reduce shipment time and cost significantly.
Allsees Global Logistics Company, a UK freight forwarding and shipping company, will be operating the inaugural shipment with the ship MV Amo, which is expected to arrive at Chattogram port on 15 May.
"We have approved three ships to operate in several UK ports, including Liverpool. We are also giving quick approval to companies applying for shipping on the new route," said Chattogram Port Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Shahjahan.

MV Amo is scheduled to carry export goods from Chattogram to Rotterdam port in the Netherlands via the Suez Canal. After unloading goods at Rotterdam, the ship will head for the port in Liverpool. It will return to Chattogram with import-bound goods.
Captain Syed Sohel Hasnat, chief executive officer of Phoenix Shipping Limited, a local representative of Allsees Global Logistics Company, said that the direct route will shorten shipment time to 23 days, which earlier used to be 35-40 days via Singapore and Colombo.

Other than MV Amo, Allsees will deploy two other ships – MV BBC Finland and MV San Alfonso – on the new route, the container carrying capacity of the three ships being 1,730TEUs, 1,500TEUs and 1,819TEUs, in that order.
Syed Mohammad Arif, chairman of Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association, termed it a positive development for Bangladesh's economy.
"Increased freight traffic will boost competition among shipping companies. As a result, freight charges and business costs will be reduced," he added.
Earlier on 8 February, a direct freight route from Chattogram to Italy went operational under the Italian freight forwarder Reef Line and its partner, Calypso Compania de Navigation.

So direct shipping line was always possible from CHT.... why did we need to build two more ports? Why was this not done before.... whats changed... did the lankan pay backhanders to prevent progress in BD that they can not sustain due to economic collapse? If so BD needs to review its posture vis a vis lanka.

What has changed to make direct shipping line economically viable....

Shipment on larger vessels is cheaper. However, increasing shipments to UK has now attracted direct shipping using smaller vessels.

Still not a justification for not building deep sea ports.

A wise man thinks ten times before he speaks one word. BD brat @mb444 does not think even one time but he utters hundred words.

He is asking here like an idiot why to build Materbari. He needs to educate himself by others, kindergarten students would suffice.

Please take it easy and stop with the insults.

We are all Bangladeshis, we can have differences of opinions but we need not fight among us.

Economies of scale does not really explain it. We exported tens of billions of goods, when we factor in weeks of delays how much more advantageous was it to go through lanka.

There is a question to be asked if a nexus of interest kept direct shipping line from being established earlier. What factors have changed to make it a viable option now. The reasons for building two additional ports was to eliminate the need to rely on other ports but this new shipping line is from CTG.

I personally find this a puzzle because the conventional wisdom has always been direct shipping was not possible because ships that can travel to europe can not anchor in CTG. So what has changed?

No issues with additional ports being built... the question is did these additional options made the suppression of direct shipping untenable. The whole saga is really odd.

Is that because kindergarten level education is what you aspired to aquire. I guess that is the level of hindutva education you were subjected to in whatever crummy part of ramraj you hail from.

The mid-sized ship designs have changed as well (Tsuneishi Chittagong Max class) which are wider and very low draft. The mid-sized 2806 TEU (Twenty foot container Equivalent Units) container ships are now designed for ports like Chittagong (11M draft). Max draft in Chittagong is less than 12 meters during low tide.

Previously only low draft and small 1800 TEU feeder liners could berth at CTG to feed containers to S'pore or Colombo for trans-shipment to larger (8000-12000 TEU) Super Panamax mother vessels. Those 1800 TEU feeder liners now go directly to EU ports (and now, UK) bypassing s'pore and colombo, saving three to five days and all trans-shipment fees.

Soon 2806 TEU mid-sized container liners like below will join them.

When Bay Terminal (CTG) and Matarbari deep(er) sea ports come online, they will be able to host actual Super Panamax class mother vessels and shipping container will become much faster, relieving the logjam now.

Not just socks, you name it - they make it.

we have a little woods warehouse near my town. its got a new name recently but i cant rember.
my lil bro worked there and he got access to the computers, in turn got access to the database. He told me that goods from bangladesh, turkey, pakistan india etc are bought for peanuts for example curtains/jumpers/shirts etc in a box 40 to 100 for 20 pounds or even cheaper. one curtain we pay like 15 to 25 quid.
plus there was rumour that the owners were counterfeiting name brands and selling it as original although they were good as the real deal.

i thought wtf wat slaves are these countries.

Slaves have to eat too. Consider yourself lucky that you don't live in these countries and are not 'slaving' in a shirt factory. They get by on a lot less money than you do.

As you grow older you will realize how the world works (or doesn't).

Sorry to say, I will not stop if it is the two UK flagged imposter @mb444 wherever he writes. You have to read his earlier posts in many other threads insulting me in every post. He would find faults with my every opinion for nothing.

He is now aided by another blackey two UK-flagged idiot. I will keep on answering in kind until they learn how to write logically and not by making personal attacks.

These two possess the illogical Taliban minds that roam in the Murkh mountain caves void of knowledge.

But, why these two imposters should come with two white English flags shamelessly when they live in some coastal fishing villages of Bangladesh? This is a way to disrespect Bangladesh by pretending white Englishmen.

Bhai Galagali korey ki lubh? "Ignore" korey den - you won't see their posts again.

Or maybe they can too. Jhogra-jhati mezaz kharap korey lubh nai. Moter omil thakbei.
