I had many positive experiences with the Brits the further I go from the large cities. I had an English G/F when I was there. We traveled whenever her little car could handle or whenever I could secure a rental. The Scots were great but we were afraid to get lost up there as we could not get past their accents.Down here we are not scared to smile, greet or wave at complete strangers! Did not see that in London.
Have to go with you here. No wonder curry and US style steakhouses were so popular. A friend (and fellow USAF) ordered his rare steak this way: "Just cut off his horns, clean his asshole and bring'em on."And the crap they eat. Blandly cooked organs - not me!!

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all? Suspicion of anything foreign.
Perhaps you Americans can teach us a thing or two on good cuisine and healthy eating ( )

Down here we are not scared to smile, greet or wave at complete strangers! Did not see that in London. They remind me of people in NYC. And the crap they eat. Blandly cooked organs - not me!!
