Once Mumtaj Begum is kicked out from her office, it will be banned in WB too.

But the law that made it legal (The West Bengal Animal Slaughter Act) dates back to 1950? surely it can't be that much of an issue if it's been legal for over half a century.

In the cafe, students from all religions eat. There are other foods, other than eating beef, anyone who does not wish to eat beef can get different food.
This was Dhaka University cafe, there is nor should be exclusive privilege so that hindu extremism can shine. Besides Dhaka University proctor made rule for not serving beef where most students eats beef; that is imposing hindu extremist ideology over majority Muslim students. Only hindus and non believers in Bangladesh will promote such hindu extremism.

And how hindu journalist reacted shows how hindus using awami state power by extension of india, are imposing hindu extremism.

So what you are saying is Bangladesh is a joke

This whole beef ban thing is a Northern/Western Indian communal Hindu 'thing'. Most educated Bengali Hindus I know don't really care. It's these semi-educated and uneducated Hindus in those states who are really being pushy about beef ban.

But - doesn't work in Bangladesh....take your Gau-raksha philosophy to India, we love our steaks. :-)
Sorry to say but Bangladesh is becoming an indian state :). hasina will sell you & your freedom .

Is the Hindu extremists jumping because RSS is in power in Big brother India?

Hindus actually takes cow meat. Aside their conservatism and fanatics brainwashing them, many of them are curious seeing the red meat (Beef) dishes and actually ends up as beef eaters. It's like a mental block they need to break down due to cultural taboo in the Gujarats and Haryanas. I hope more Hindus especially in the North India embrace the taste of Cow meat. A well-done steak is worth the trouble of swerving through Gau-rakshak's.

Gau-Raksha tradition is more cultural than a religious tradition.

In ancient times Hindu Sadhus, Sants, Rishis, Munis and Gurus used to eat beef.

I don't see any problem here.

A university has decided to ban beef so it can reduce the potential for conflict or to accommodate minorities. The fact is one goes to university to learn and not to eat fancy feasts. Besides students can bring their own meals with however much beef they want.

Not really. More than 80% of BD population eats beef. Many others like Christians etc also eat beef.

The right way would have been to have separate hostels for Hindus or if someone tries to force them to eat it then action should be taken against that individual. The rest could have eaten beef as per their choice.

But this looks like a "shah sai ziada shah kai wafadar" type of thing.

This is disgraceful if true.

Aaand - it's not true. The news item was sensationalized.

Turns out that the lease-holder for the Hindu Students' canteen fed them Tehari in the morning with Beef in it. His lease was obviously cancelled after the Hindu students threw a fit.....:-)

Hindu nationalism finding its way in BD.

You speak too much sense here compared to other posters, where some would have argued to ban Hindus from the Uni instead lol

Bhai are you kidding? Bangladeshis are eating beef in all three of their daily meals. Potential for what conflict? :D

Laws can be updated to introduce newer clause, to make it tough for slaughter house to operate.

My point isn't about whether the law can or should be changed, I'm asking a question of how strict/laxed the Bengali Hindu attitude towards beef eating actually is. Are you a Bengali Hindu?

LAMO this is height of cuckoldry

Calm down mate the sensationalized headline has already been debunked.

Turns out that the lease-holder for the Hindu Students' canteen
Phut...Baje kotha. Oi canteen e shobai khay (apnar nijer link ta dekhen). Je serve korche se janbe kikore ke Hindu ke Muslim? Hindu ra khay na bole okhankar Musolman student rao khete parbe na? Retard logic 101
