Dhaka more expensive than many South Asian cities: EIU

How can Kolkata have a GDP of 150 billion US dollars when the whole state of W Bengal has 160 billion US dollar economy

It's called 'PPP'.

Dhaka has an economy of around 80 billion US dollars while Calculatta is at 20 billion US dollars.

Utter BS supported by no data.

In per capita, BD is at 1600 US dollars while W Bengal is a little behind at 1500 US dollars.

Recheck your figures, it's almost the same. And in PPP figures, well... :D

Comparing the capital(20 million pop) of the fastest growing 100 million+ population economy in the world to a backwater city(5 million pop) in India

Nice try...

Kolkata Metro region have population of 14 million. It is a node of Eastern DFC/industrial region & India's act east policy.

You aware that by 2035, Dhaka will have 5 metro lines

Are you aware that Kolkata have a operational metro and will have 6 lines by 2019/2020 @Nilgiri

The stat for Kolkata was quoted from Indian govt sources which is not really reliable

The stat for Kolkata is from PwC, not BBS.

Kolkata is hardly considered a major city like Dhaka and Chittagong

Oh God, this is damn funny...

I believe its PPP comparison from PwC.

Wrong, WB is above 2k now. Much better than BD on PPP too.

Dhaka has an economy of around 80 billion US dollars while Calculatta is at 20 billion US dollars.

Wrong. Please don't pull numbers from your personal Dhaka effluent creator.

Comparing the capital(20 million pop) of the fastest growing 100 million+ population economy in the world to a backwater city(5 million pop) in India is a complete joke. You aware that by 2035, Dhaka will have 5 metro lines built and no less than 3 ring roads?

Proper cities don't exist in BD. The comparison is a no-go from the start.

When a human settlement cant actually provide basic medical care for its people (so they don't have to sell land from the paddyfield they moved from to work in some slum effluent tannery...just to get it in another country altogether), we can start discussing if it counts as a city.

Then you use widely different definition between the two anyway, understand the difference between city proper population and metro-area population moron.

Yes, Calcutta may have better infrastructure now but it will change once Dhaka's infrastructure is modernised by 2035. Remember India gained independence in 1947 whereas BD had to wait till 1971 to take control of it's own destiny.

Again the so called "extraction" rate under Pakistan rule is grossly exaggerated just like the genocide and rape number claims:

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/how-...desh-armed-forces.548467/page-5#post-10326411

Thus 1971 is not the "starting date" modern-economically for gangetic delta swamp (known as Bangladesh currently), it is 1947 like everyone else.....this is outside the fact you made the political decision for being part of Pakistan....and you bear responsibility in how it turned out in the end.

Whole of BD of 160 million has 273 billion US dollar and so why cannot the capital of 20 million have 80 billion US dollar?

Are you aware that Kolkata have a operational metro and will have 6 lines by 2019/2020

Yes but what else?
BD 5 line metro will be only part of the equation. There will be 6 huge expressways and no less than 3 ring roads.

.
Yeah, Let's quote wiki and Indian govt. stats and prove the Indian cities to be even more developed than Coruscant.

Bangladeshi cities are no where near since obviously we don't have any toi-lets.

Because you are a GDDS country in the business of creating your first city to begin with. Its not time yet for measuring/estimating things like GDP and so on there (esp nominally). Thats a much later part 2...and you need to be on track to meet SDDS requirements for economic trackers.

The larger issue anyway was you claiming Kolkata economy is around 20 billion USD, which you just pulled out of....well nvm....and that to in the same line as though some apples and apples have been established with the 80 billion claim for Dhaka (which also came out of nowhere solid).

Here is my evidence:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_West_Bengal

"₹96,590.50 (US$1,500) (2017-18, at current prices)[1]"

Do you have anything to counter this as i think they took the data from Indian government figures?

No-one neutral gives a hoot about your butt-hurt "extraction" rate nonsense. BD would be far ahead of any country in S Asia if it gained independence in 1947. An independent BD is the fastest growing 100 million+ pop economy in the world right now and this will only get faster in the 2020s with major infrastructure like Padma bridge and the 1GW+ power stations coming online.

Many other things... A proper airport, roads...I'm talking about 2018 here, not 2035 !!!

OK. Let us have an official plan like I presented that has been costed and funding sources provided.

Have you looked that Vice tannery expose on Dhaka on youtube? There is literally whole townships that are just accumulated human effluent all around....the lady got some skin rash from just observing from afar....and there are BD wretches swimming and bathing in it with all the tannery chemical cocktail being dumped into it as well....yuck.

Funny coming from someone who hails from a "country" called India.

I think the mess will split before it reaches 100 years of "independence" in 1947. Multi-ethnic states have always disintegrated.

I would rather have something being done on the ground rather than great 'plans'. I would have some 120 km of metro already under construction than XXX km by 2035 projections.

Stop daydreaming & start doing something so that you don't go down under the sea by the time India celebrate 100th independence day. We might seeing Bhola cyclone 2.0 soon enough !!!

Metro line 1 for Dhaka is already under construction.

Yes, and then in India where the same creatures have their morning shit, dump the dead bodies and take a 'holy bath' to 'purify' themselves in the same 'holy' river.

Give me a word to express more disgust than 'yuck'!

As was already posted earlier. 164 billion USD for WB nominally (as bad of a concept that is to use).

No-one neutral

No one neutral even knows what Bangladesh is in the first place. Its a catch 22 situation im afraid.

The more someone gets to know about BD, the more they learn what a gutter swamp it actually is....till they decide its a waste of time.

If it were true, BD people would inherently be doing a lot better when they migrate to US, UK, Canada and other developed countries....given its a clear way to have the same reference and ample access of resource for development of a community.

But you end up being bottom of the pile consistently (don't make me post all that info again on the specifics). You are low IQ, low productive and worthless....its borne out by the data, its cruel I know....but best to accept it and improve it on ground.... than dilly dally the fantasy BS.

Thus your stupid hypothetical dreaming means just about as much as the junk rating of BD govt bonds....actually a lot worse than that.
