Nothing changes the fact that 55% of your urban population lives in slums, when it is just 24% here in India...

This is Dhaka and that would have more slums than anywhere else.
Depends on how you define slums. A typical Indian residential/industrial area filled with human feces would be regarded as a slum in Bangladesh.

My point exactly - A slum in India is more than likely the definition of a slum.
It's true, the media time and time again compare you to that of sub saharan situations. The connotations of India are shit swamps, shit slums, shantis and having piss poor states = BIMARU

Here's a few shots to whet your appetite, these are mostly older suburbs of Dhaka dating from the 1950's except the first few shots. Newer planned suburbs of Dhaka will be far larger in scale than whatever Newtown in Kolkata will ever be. But that doesn't diminish our love for Kolkata, it is what it is, warts and all.
