There is a 4 lane on ground expressway currently in completion. DHK-CTH route is the lifeline of Bangladesh economy. As you know Bangladesh has land shortage but huge population. So this all elevated expressway is necessary for future need otherwise many lands, canals will be wasted for future road expansion. Corruption is a part of any project. It has become a norm in Bangladesh but development is also necessary.

The Dhaka-Chittagong highway is considered as the busiest one in the whole country.It is a major highway for the movement of people, no doubt. But its greater significance lies in the fact that the lion’s share of the export and import cargoes of the country travel from Dhaka to Chittagong and vice versa as well as other destinations by using it on a daily basis.
Though the government are expending the road to 4 lane which will cost around 40 billions, the heavily used road will be unsuitable to meet all the demands on it, efficiently.The expansion of the country’s economy, the increase in the volume of commercial cargoes thereof, all these are putting more and more pressures on this road. Not only for meeting the much greater needs of transportation nowadays compared to the past, but also for getting ready to cope successfully with what are certain to be substantially higher traffic loads on it in the future.

Now this road is restricted for cargo from 8pm to 8am) which is not suitable for import and export. If we can build this elevated expressway, our GDP growth will be .50 more than it is now.That's why government are spending that much money on this, i guess.Thanks
