Developments and Turkish operations in Libya

Damned if you do,damned if you don't. I still remember people accusing Western powers for not stepping in to remove Assad decisively....not that it helped the situation in Syria in the end as it's still embroiled in a quagmire.
If you support a dictator just to have stability (take Egypt as an example) you're evil and an active oppressor of Muslims, if you help the people topple the insane dictator (and Ghaddafi sure fits that description.) ,you're an evil destroyer of Muslim countries

Did Gaddafi kill over half a million and displace a large percentage of his country? Did he use chemical weapons on his own people?

He might have do it if Western powers wouldn't intervene to cut his reign short early in the uprising. His jets were already pounding cities who opposed him.

What I don't understand is why France isn't supporting the GNA recognized by UN. Democratically elected. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_National_Accord

It's very easy to just say. It's because of oil, money flow to France etc. but surely there must be a better excuse than that.

Egypt buy Rafale, Mistral from France. It comes with strings attached. Egypt buy from France in exchange France sides with Egypt in Libya. Now Egypt buy FREMM from Italy to make Italy side with Egypt in Libya.

The capture of Sirte seems more complicated than expected. The LNA is currently slowing GNA's advance. The LNA might keep fighting to force GNA to accept a ceasefire.

GNA won't accept ceasefire no matter what. LNA's plan is to deplete GNA manpower and hardware at Sirte / Jufra which is the strongest fortress in all of Libya and then offensive on Misrata.

the GNA needs 1 thing right now. A SHITTON OF SAM's.

They may use S-400. S-400 has more range than Kh-31P Krypton SEAD missile. 300 km compared to 110 km.

And here we are interacting with a guy that thinks that will deploy the S-400 to Libya [emoji2959]

GNA officially has told, following liberation of Sirte (and securing paths for logistics of Sirte, ie. Jufra) they will be open for talks.
This also means, "for a ceasefire retreat back to your area which you were staying before your offence".

Realy? After Afganistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt..you really have had no idea which disaster could bring an illegal war in Libya? Now, after you helped to destroy the country, you blame Libyans? Maybe your thouhts is embossed from the believe, your "mission" in Africa has a missionary and civilizing character, which you has underpin by a law. UNBELIEVABLE.

Intervention in Libya was legal as the French operation Harmattan was launched two days after the UNSC Resolution 1973 was adopted, thus forming the legal basis of any intervention.

The resolution authorized the international community to intervene, establish a no fly-zone and use all necessary means to protect the civilians. The French armed forces accomplished their mission in accordance to legal rules,so in no way "illegal".

A total massacre was looming on Benghazi, the French armed forces made sure it didn't happen.

YES,Libyans have only themselves to blame for this mess, instead of coming together around the table, their tribal mentalities have overtaken everything else.

Damned if you do,damned if you don't. I still remember people accusing Western powers for not stepping in to remove Assad decisively....not that it helped the situation in Syria in the end as it's still embroiled in a quagmire.

Summed up everything perfectly.

It still doesn’t help resolve the situation that the countries who bombed the shit out of the country are gambling on two horses.

It just makes it worse that that France supports both sides.

AFAIK Russians have set up long range radars at Sirte that can locate approaching convoys from dozens of km away. Anyway the place is heavily defended with hundreds of Kornet anti tank missiles, a number of the latest model Pantsir AD, a number of MiG-29 fighter jets at Jufra, and at least a dozen Wing Loong II attack drones at Jufra. It is without a shadow of doubt the Sirte / Jufra region is the most heavily defended region in Libya.

Western powers never actually wanted Assad gone during the peak(2013-2015) of Arab Spring as that would’ve put in extremely tough position other pro-US arab (gulf) regimes
Now US is pushing for economic warfare against Assad as they want to complete their “kurdish-pkk-barzani” project by 2021 and move to the next stage- creation of pkk-kurdish statelet in either Turkey or Iran depending which state is weaker(currently it is Iran who is weaker but if biden is elected then they will shift to Turkey as they tried in the summer of 2016 because apparently democrats would like to improve relations with Iran and even restore the JPOA deal)

We are going to see what will happen in the coming days but certainly GNA hasn’t brought three brigades in Sirte-Jufra region only to be slaughtered by MIG-29s and Wagner probably Turkey has assured GNA of the necessary support for completing the operation successfully

We are talking about defence now? What about capturing Tripoli?
