Apparently they are scared that their slightest word could be manipulated and twisted to harm their families at home or themselves when they return.

Honest Reporting calls this PBS report a "whitewash". As one illustration of its bias, they point to the line, "Many Jews here hope Tehran and Tel Aviv will one day resolve their differences" - as if the Jews in Tehran don't know that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem rather than Tel Aviv.

I haven't heard of any Iranian Jews being assaulted in Iran in the past twenty years but I have not made an effort to dig for it, either. Furthermore, I'm aware of the fact that some Iranian Jews accused of spying for Israel have been set free without being convicted. And yes, Iranian Jews do travel between the U.S. and Iran: those are the people I was referring to.
