Desalination Plants higher priority vs Oil refineries

The Dams will no doubt be constructed however , we also need Desalination plants it is a reality we will soon have to accept

Pakistan has a 700 KM coastal zone , which is developed may be 0.05%
50% of Sindh is desert because , there are no canal network for water distribution

The DAMs will prevent flash flooding (fantastic)

But when you can have both Dam + Desalination water , you are only limited by your imagination what you can do with extra water and farming and extra food which can be exported to world

Desalination plant + Nuclear plant construction has may be 0% benefit to Punjab province
Their needs will be met by the DAM construction

But Pakistan will benefit from Farming done in Baluchistan and Sindh (Extra Money as a country) which will get distributed in budget (Indirect benefits to Province)

We don’t have shortage of water. We need to build dams to store water in the reservoir so it can be used for domestic, industries and irrigation purposes. proper canal system to be build to provide water to Thar, Sindh and Balochistan.

I think steps taken now will safe guard future

If 3-4 Desalination plants are constructed , it will ensure southern Pakistan will have sufficient water supply alternatives. Also it will mean more water can be released and used in Northern Pakistan

It's a strategic investment

Not to mention benefits of making Pakistan more greener and more farms along the coastal belt and Baluchistan and parts of Sindh

DAMs benefit nationally , that is a understood option
Desalination plants are growing reality to take our dependence away from Glaciers

55% of Pakistan is not green but it can be converted with science

Well desalination plants will quickly turn land into Farming and there will be more agricultural products which can be exported out

Water is the greatest incubator for farming

Costly and how will you transport the water?

A connected grid of Desalination plants and Canals can transport water across the coastal areas of Pakistan and interior Sindh

Gravity / Aquaducts and Canals

We can also fill the Ancient dried up lake in Baluchistan with some engineering

Aquaduct have been used in Europe for long time to move water from one area to other artificially

Second method is Canals

Why you don't trap monsoon water.
Around 80% water flows back to sea.

Our politicians don't even have basic planning skills.
There are dozens of other measures, which could be taken.
In Pakistan half of Pakistan face drought, while other half face flash floods and it happens every year, but such calamities, give an opportunity to politicians to earn popularity using state resources.

Kalabagh dam is do or die for Pakistan, but idiot rulers are oblivious of it.

Same with India, I was reading some article where the author mentioned if we do proper rain harvesting of monsoon, water problem will be solved. Yes we have to find a measure to convert it into drinkable water.
He provided some believable stats.

Our priority should be
1> Storage (DAMS) & lakes around major urban sites
2> Water Management(We should use water as efficiently as possible both in urban as well agri sector)
e.g. with drop / sprinkles we can reduce usage. its expensive but we need to take steps from now so that in 20~30 year project should be complete. High yield low water seeds.
Urban Area water level is going down. We need separate lines to divert all rain water back to ground instead of throwing in sewerage lines. Filteration plant waste water should be used for car wash(Only water) and that water should be used for greenbelt / Gardens. Install Meter and charge everyone who use bore water. Criminal proceeding against WASA (they are the main reason why we have to buy filtered water)- All industry and consumer sewerage line should be treated because that water goes to River> Canal > Crops.
3>More canal system to expand network & interlink.
